How can I know by heart the lyrics of hundreds, maybe thousands, of songs, and yet it takes me a month to memorize a poem?

If AI is all a bubble and this video is all we end up with from it, I say it was WORTH IT. No notes.

The sentinel hypothesis proposes that teenagers staying up late has evolutionary advantages, because there's always someone awake to notice if your tribe of hunter-gatherers is attacked. You can probably guess who told me about this.

The difficulty of asking questions on forums and StackOverflow drove people to reddit. The same forces of scale and moderation stressed reddit, so niche communities moved to private Discords. At every step information became more proprietary and less discoverable. In 2023 all existing web content was scraped to bring about modern LLMs. AI finally allowed users to get the answer to any question with infinite patience, searching and synthesizing all possible public information. Google's AI answers atop search results were at first useless, but eventually got good enough to prevent you ever having to click on a hyperlink. The result is a one-way interaction in which information value is extracted, but never added back into to the system. The only way for someone passionate to supply the world valuable information about some hobby like vintage sewing machines is to willfully go back to r slash sewing machine enthusiasts and do eternal battle with moderators seeking to be the king of their little hill on one side and the onslaught of competing AI/normie slop on the other.
Taking this off private because it made me so fucking angry

It is extremely clear at this point in AI development that, regardless of risk or revenue or any of the other stuff discussed on X all the time, things are just going to keep getting weirder. Just super, super weird.

In the 20th century -- when the body was the unit of production -- employers began providing health insurance to nurture the bodies of their workers. In the 21st century, the unit of production is the mind. How is your company nurturing & developing minds?

Instinct continues to blow my mind with things both large and small. This would not have been a catastrophe, but I would've noticed the absence of the link two minutes before the call, and it would have been awkward.
