Location, location, location. We have added location support to the RFID scanner data system: from device software to dApp to web application.
#IoT devices are often battery powered, sleep for periods of time, and are not suited for establishing connections to peer-based blockchains. This is where #EOS shines - offering the BP's as a distributed and constrained group of known access points.

We just got our #RFID scanner for #RaspberryPi demo web app re-hosted, along with our main website. eosiot.github.io/rfid-html
Using net, cpu and bandwidth as usual but packaged up neatly into service tiers and taking fiat for payment. Content delivery backed by IPFS. And most importantly: no mention of blockchain. Just a reliable, distributed hosting service.

Potentially killer app for blockchain and #EOS: #web hosting. EOS is uniquely positioned with its dozens of high-powered block producers as distributed access points to offer a useful service for real businesses around the world.
Good luck and godspeed! Signing off.
Yes, it seems the output of this system would only be meaningful to us, i.e. actions to mitigate global warming as indicated by the system could only be enacted by us even though global warming has impact everywhere to all species.
EOSIoT was envisioned as such a system - measuring and recording data about something that has existed before we were even here - the Earth - and where humans play a secondary role in the grander scheme of things.
When we talk about systems that extend beyond humanity, then the custodians of the system - us - cannot be trusted whatsoever and so #blockchains and #decentralized computing platforms may play a role.
#Blockchains are destined to transcend humanity, for anything else is just adding negligible or negative efficiency to a system that is run by humans for humans - establishing trust between parties adds nothing when all their foibles are factored in.
I estimate that 90% of the resources that go into building a so-called blockchain-backed project are really allocated to standard services - web application, marketing, social media, hosting, etc. That's $90 of every $100 spent on non-blockchain dev.
With the #EOS #REX pool growing as fast as it is, it makes absolutely no sense to stake any tokens for resources. Instead, just 1 EOS per month will get you over 3000 EOS worth of stakes resources!
Preparing to launch our open source #RFID tag scanner for the #EOS #blockchain!
EOSIoT builds value by bringing #IoT and #Blockchain together. We've got some amazing things in the pipeline. Stay tuned!
One must remember that #Blockchain is a tool. It's a powerful tool, to be sure, but its place is to work behind the scenes as an enabler for game changers and world beaters. Your messaging must be more than just blockchain or you're on the wrong path.
#EOS #blockchain allows #IoT solution vendors and operators to claim network resources with a one-time up-front payment and not pay any usage fees after that. This is a highly innovative model with broad appeal.
We are bringing #IoT up to the global #blockchain #security standard. We do this by enabling IoT edge devices to transact directly with global dApps - whether ours or yours. No such transaction has ever been compromised in the entire history of blockchain.
