When "frutiger aero" was first being discussed online it was explicitly as a consumer aesthetic but now everyone talks about it as though it was a promised-but-irrevocably-lost-future a la Mark Fisher
Frutiger Aero seem to be like how the 80's are associated with synthwave, but seen more like an accurate depiction of the 00's and made more significant than it was.
Also largely propped by younger people (Gen Z) who were too young to really remember the era. (Myself inc.)
