The best jobs to give an AI agent are those that are repeatable and easy for your team to review. Here are three for your Playwright suite that you can hand to your agent using the Endform MCP 😉

We do not regenerate an application from scratch every time a user visits it. We write code once, store it, and serve many requests from that stable implementation. End-to-end tests should follow the same pattern. Here’s how a healthy AI-assisted test workflow looks like: ☑️ Use AI during creation, not execution: use AI to explore features and draft initial tests, but keep it out of your actual test execution loop. ☑️Store behavior as code, not prompts: encode understood workflows into deterministic Playwright code to create durable artifacts that execute identically every time. ☑️ Treat tests as executable memory: build tests to act as institutional memory that preserves critical product decisions and survives team turnover or architectural refactors. Treat your tests like production code. It really is as simple as that.

Choosing between an AI browser agent and a deterministic Playwright test depends on what stage of the development process you’re in. Agents are great to investigate and detect unexpected behavior. Playwright tests allow you to encode not just the outcome, but the exact sequence of interactions and expectations that define the behavior. No need to pit them against each other.

Most Playwright suites don't break because their framework is bad, but because teams run hundreds of tests using the exact same habits they used when their suite was 20 tests. You need to stop treating every "best practice" as equally urgent and start diagnosing your specific bottleneck first: Is it efficiency? Is it isolation? Or is it determinism? Here we break down suggestions per category, so you can actually act on what needs to be prioritized: bki.sh/xK6Dks6

AI browser agents are a massive leap for development, but treating them as a replacement for deterministic Playwright tests is a very expensive mistake. Why? Because agents operates in a continuous "observe → reason → act" loop, the token overhead compounds brutally in CI. Estimated monthly cost (50 scenarios, 300 runs): 📍Plain browser infra (Playwright): $150 📍Efficient model in the loop: $600 📍Balanced model: $4,650 📍Frontier model: $18,150 The fix: use AI for creation, then encode it into a deterministic Playwright test. Calculate how much this is costing you with our cost calculator: endform.dev/blog/ai-belongs-…

Microsoft retired Azure Playwright Testing and replaced it with Playwright Workspaces. If you migrated, your tests probably still run fine, but it's the observability what didn't survive the move. Workspaces handles cloud browsers and generates raw run artifacts. But it left behind three things its predecessor did: → no unified place to track test health → traces scattered across raw CI logs and download artifacts → no cross-run debugging If you run tests at scale, a failing test you can't trace costs as much as the compute to run it. If you've felt this since migrating, here are some alternatives worth exploring: bki.sh/aXYKu0U

When AI agents like Claude Code generate Playwright tests solely from source code, they often hallucinate locators. The agent guesses selectors based on component files, but UI logic often rewrites these classes before they reach the browser. The result? Tests that pass a visual check but fail in CI. But there's a solution to this: Playwright MCP gives Claude Code live access to the browser, so instead of guessing based on training data, the AI agent can navigate the application, inspect the accessibility tree, and write locators based on what the page exposes. However, to generate successful and shippable tests, it's important to set a correct workflow and be aware of the cases in which generating Playwright tests this way may break. We teach you the safe approach, step by step, in our latest blog: bki.sh/rDzii9U #Playwright #ClaudeCode #Testing

Endform retweeted
10% of teams reported flaky tests in 2022. The number jumped to 26% by 2025, across 10 million builds. @endform_dev lays out why the trend compounds. Every flaky failure contains diagnostic information, and rerunning the suite loses it before anyone reads it. Timing mismatches, order dependencies, CI environment differences, and animation interference account for most failure classes. The five-step workflow for classifying a failure before writing a fix is the practical part. Full article in the comments for teams whose quarantine list keeps growing.

Running AI browser agents in CI for 50 scenarios, 300 times a month, costs $18,000 with a frontier model. The same suite with deterministic Playwright tests: $150. Why and how to avoid it? Check out this article: endform.dev/blog/ai-belongs-…

@OliverStenbom from @endform_dev reminded us why Big O notation still matters, explaining how they managed to reduce the time spent running a massive number of Playwright tests concurrently.

Slow tests = slow deploys = slow everything. @endform_dev makes Playwright tests actually fast. Carry out test faster. Your CI/CD will thank you.
