Nobody would be upset if Billie Eilish was asking people to stop eating horses btw. People are not mad because some minority culture might be offended by veganism, they are upset because veganism challenges their own habits and values and they don’t like being challenged.

The amount of yall unironically using this argument to attempt to attack Billie is so funny

mind you meat consumption increases with wealth and studies have shown that vegan diets are the most affordable. acting like steak is cheaper than beans and lentils LMFAOOOOOOOO

I just know shes gonna get hell about this. Like no, just because billie didnt explicitly mention your hyper specific situation as to why you HAVE to eat meat doesnt mean its a direct personal attack on you, this is about a wider issue of systemic exploitation and animal abuse

animal agriculture affects minorities the most btw while yall are using indigenous practices to defend your own unethical meat consumption these corporations are destroying and taking away native land to make room for factory farming
Billie Eilish addresses criticism over her statement that “eating meat is inherently wrong”:
“go watch a documentary or two and some footage of what is done to the animals u claim to love and what it does to the planet u pretend to love as well. if that footage was hard for u to watch i encourage u to pls take a look at urself. like i am so tired of standing up for/having empathy for living beings being controversial. pls continue to live in a constant state of cognitive dissonance and denial and try to convince urself that ur not living a lie. mwah”

everyone mad that billie posted that all on her story with no tw no nothing cause “that’s disturbing”. well, THAT’S THE POINT, what happening IS disturbing and just inhuman. you can just close your eyes and scroll away, but that doesn’t change the fact that this IS reality!
Billie Eilish responds to criticism for saying in recent interview that “eating meat is inherently wrong” and if you eat meat you can’t love animals:
“stay f*cking mad at ME i really don’t give a goddamn f*ck […] go watch a documentary or two and some footage of what is done to the animals u claim to love and what it does to the planet u pretend to love as well. if that footage was hard for u to watch i encourage u to pls take a look at urself. like i am so tired of standing up for/having empathy for living beings being controversial. pls continue to live in a constant state of cognitive dissonance and denial and try to convince urself that ur not living a lie. mwah 💋”

Black people are ~3x more likely to be vegetarian/vegan in the United States than the general population. Veganism has nothing to do with “fresh produce” (the stuff you replace meat with is legumes). As societies get richer meat consumption increases, not the other way around
Replying to @cachavaa
moreover, many people (especially in black & brown communities) have far less access to fresh produce making veganism a matter of privilege. indigenous people have also practiced meat consumption sustainably and without cruelty for centuries before capitalism.

I do find it plausible that loving someone is incompatible with eating them and find it weird that there's a lot of controversy about this.

And she’s completely right she didn’t say you should stop eating meat she just said you can’t eat it and say you love animals how are you eating something you love??? y’all are only mad because you feel called out and you know she’s right.

It's interesting how there's a stereotype on social media about veganism being mainly a white thing, when Black Americans are 3 times more likely to be vegan than the general population. And globally, the 4 most vegetarian countries are India, Mexico, Brazil, and Taiwan.
