Which brand leads America's public WiFi?
It depends on what kind of place you look at. Walmart leads 16 states overall. Look only at grocery stores and it leads 25. Switch to restaurants and McDonald's leads 46.
We also mapped hotels, gyms, coffee shops and the Internet providers behind venue WiFi:

We can do amazing things with them, but unlocking their full potential requires extraordinary discipline and knowledge
Bury your head in the ground at your own risk. I aim to not jump on any hype trains, but since Opus 4.6 and GPT-5.2 + the harnesses it was clear that these things can write code nearly as good as I can in my best language; better in other languages.
But we won't see non-devs push production code for a long time; possibly forever, if you ask me. Software still needs to be built in robust ways, and it's our profession to do this well, and use the new tools we have, which create new and interesting (+tough!) challenges

Why it matters: 500 logins from one IP looks like credential stuffing, but it's a normal afternoon in an airport lounge. Without that context, a fraud rule blocks a planeload of real customers.
A few things stand out:
→ Hotels lead venue WiFi in 44 states
→ Walmart leads 16 as a brand, 25 on groceries
→ The average airport carries 14× the devices of the average hotel
Only three states don't pick McDonald's as their top restaurant: Dunkin' takes New Hampshire and Rhode Island, Chick-fil-A takes South Carolina. Georgia is an exact tie.
