To be clear... we're drinking Diet Coke here at Navy Pier. But we'd never tell you what to do.
Look, we’re not telling you to use this card for a drinking game while watching the DNC tonight — just that you could.

As your friendly Chicago religion reporter, I have to point out that’s Chicago’s own Cardinal Blase Cupich offering the opening invocation at the Democratic National Convention.

I’m can’t say as I’m planning to live-tweet the DNC this week, as I’ve got a 2-year-old ordering me to put the “scary Bumble-Nums” on the TV right now. 😂

Not sure if the networks aired it, but Cupich just offered an opening invocation quoting Pope Francis, calling on God to help Americans "truly understand and answer the sacred call of citizenship," and praying for "peace—especially for people suffering the senselessness of war."
At the DNC tonight, the opening invocation will be offered by Cardinal Blase Joseph Cupich, Archdiocese of Chicago. The benediction will be offered by Rabbi Michael S. Beals of Temple Beth El of Newark, Delaware, and Pastor Cindy Rudolph of AME Church of Oak Grove, Delaware.

Note: This piece took an unusual amount of digging, but what I found is that Tim Walz has, to put it lightly, some serious "Lutheran Dad" energy.

Cook County is now Tornado Warning free as the circulations have moved over the lake. The potential for damaging winds will continue for the next 10 minutes! The line of storms with multiple tornadic circulations continues across NW Indiana and east central Illinois! #ILwx #INwx

Having a normal one in our basement on the northwest side of Chicago… not sure if you can hear the tornado sirens blaring over my toddler, who is having a grand time. #ilwx

We are seeing power flashes on both the O'Hare and Midway Airport webcams due to likely tornadoes and/or destructive wind gusts near those areas. Continue to take these warnings seriously!! #ILwx

Relatedly, I think about this a lot.
Lot of polling out of immunity, but perhaps the most interesting finding... Republicans think Trump should be immune for his official acts. But with a generic president (i.e. no named attached), Republicans don't think the president should be immune from prosecution.
