All I heard was “echoes Martin Short in CLIFFORD,” and needless to say, I’m sold.
Sorkin’s THE SOCIAL RECKONING is one of the most insipid, ugly, flat films of the year — an insufferably sanctimonious fantasia of blue-state Boomers that traps Jeremy Strong in a man-child performance that unintentionally echoes Martin Short in CLIFFORD. theglobeandmail.com/culture/…

I wrote about why it's totally fine (dare I say life-changing?) to try something new if you don't like your job, no matter how much time and money you've put into your career. Also a special announcement at the end... substack.com/home/post/p-155…

The writing on Girls was so sharp and hilarious and captured so much of culture even the smallest moments on the show were brilliant. Love Lena forever.

Nobody gives Lena enough credit for being a really talented and capable actress. Lots of big names couldn't come close to the face journey in this scene. Makes me emotional even out of context on Twitter like this.
the scene where hannah & adam finally concede they can’t give eachother anything else is totally GUT WRENCHING and still makes me cry like a baby.

Chelsea is every woman who has hitched her wagon to an emotionally unavailable man; death is the perfect metaphor for how that story ends. #WhiteLotus

I wrote about my decade-long journey to publish a novel after falling in love with writing in my 30s, and what helped me keep pushing thru to a top-five publishing deal. I tried to be as honest as possible about rejection, money, shame, and all the rest! open.substack.com/pub/emjsmi…

Honored to be in The Rumpus' First Book column for NOTHING SERIOUS, talking about the real-life egg freezing incident that prompted the book, my 100+ agent rejections, and why single 30-something women embarking on self-discovery are my ideal readers. therumpus.net/2025/03/05/the…

Ten years ago, at 32, I left San Francisco and my tech career and moved to New York to (insanely) try writing a novel. Now, my novel, NOTHING SERIOUS, is out from HarperCollins (about a 35-yr old woman in tech) and the SF and NY launch events were beyond my wildest dreams.

My novel is out in the world! I stopped into my local bookstore, which I lived above 11 years ago when I first moved to NY and decided (at 32) to try writing. The amount of rejection since then is unfathomable, but now I have a book on their shelves and I’m so very proud of it ❤️

Loved creating this list for @ElectricLit of books featuring women coming of age in their 30s and 40s (ie. my favorite kinds of books)!
