Wow, my life has changed a lot since I last logged in. 👋 Hi, I’m Emily, I’m a Buddhist lawyer in Methodist divinity school & my company Bad Weather is building an eco-spiritual wellness retreat center in Costa Rica. I think that about covers it? 😎

I emerge from my long deeper Twitter hibernation to complain that in the last week, I have watched Toy Story 4 more often, more closely, and in more languages than I would really recommend, and I do not even know any children.

This is me very cautiously dipping my little toe ever-so-slightly into the water to see if I actually want to dive into Twitter again, or if instead I want to...not do that.

Update on the mural progress!

Since a few people have asked: the reason I’ve mostly gone silent on social is 60% pandemic-related news fatigue & 40% the fact that I’m interning for a judge (yay!!) and it’s easier to follow the strict judicial ethics rules about appearance of bias if I stay offline entirely.

I posted something on Facebook at 8:00pm and by 8:07pm it only had 1 comment and 0 likes so I deleted it and now you know the kind of person I really am.

Somehow I have won my husband @jpaul_ortiz over & convinced him we need to go wild on the apartment walls, so now we’re 8 hours into a rainforest mural. 😍

We’re rewatching You’re The Worst and I’m realizing Sunday Funday is easily one of my all-time favorite episodes of television.

We’re watching #TheLastAirbender and JP just noticed that if you listen closely to the forest soundtrack they use in the background, it’s clearly a rainforest soundtrack. You can hear toucans calling to each other. So apparently there are toucans in the Avatar world 😂

Tweeps, I am working on the most awesomest piano project and I am SO EXCITED about it. 🤩

I spent almost all of today not on Twitter and now that I’m on Twitter again, I’m realizing that not being on Twitter was the better choice. Don’t even explain the Trump taking risky drugs thing to me, I don’t want to know.

I’ve been saying for ages that we aren’t going to see any presidential debates this cycle. WaPo’s Hugh Hewitt column today lays the groundwork for that to happen & confirms my prediction will be right.
