👀 Something unusual showed up in our mining logs over the weekend. Now you know why.
Introducing the 𝗘𝗠𝗖𝗗 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗲 & 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 with @coinhold_wallet!
Two weeks. Two chances to win.
Oct 19 – Nov 1 ⛏️
Difficulty jumped 5.92% on Oct 16 — the third-largest increase of 2026, taking ~5.6% off expected subsidy per unit of hashrate.
#EMCDMiningDigest | Oct 12–18 ⛏️
🟣 Difficulty rose to 140.58T at block 971,712, the highest level since March 5, after hashrate climbed back above 1,000 EH/s.
🟣 Ahead of the retarget, CryptoSlate modelled what a ~5.7% increase would do to margins. At 8c/kWh a 20 J/TH rig goes from a $1.37 daily cushion per PH/s to a ~0.77 shortfall.
🟣 Binance Pool shuts down Nov 10 at 07:00 UTC. Pool pages stay viewable until Nov 24.
🟣 Listed miners need ~$50B to finish planned AI build-outs — IREN $21.1B, Riot $7.2B, HIVE $4.6B, per BlocksBridge and VanEck.
🟣 Sazmining is selling single Proto hashboards from Block — ~200 TH/s at ~15 J/TH, $1,397 down and $4,187 total over 18 interest-free months.
Moving off Binance Pool? New EMCD users get 14 days with zero pool fees and 1 free month of EMCD Monitoring with code welcome2.

Nearly a decade in mining teaches you one thing: staying in the game matters as much as growing.
As the industry evolves, so do the challenges miners face. Our GM Konstantin Zherebtsov shares his take with @kasmediadotcom.
Thanks for having us 💜
⛏️ Bitcoin mining is no longer a matter of plugging in machines and waiting for BTC.
It is a margin business—shaped by electricity prices, equipment efficiency, downtime, regulation, location, and increasingly sophisticated infrastructure.
🎙️ In the latest KASmedia interview, @0xJennn speaks with Konstantin Zherebtsov, General Manager of @emcd_io Mining Pool, about how miners are adapting as the industry matures.
They discuss the economics of mining relocation, why operational monitoring has become critical, growing hashrate concentration, the outlook for retail miners, and why the current rush from Bitcoin mining into AI infrastructure may be overheated.
The complete transcript and YouTube link are available in the reply!
Binance Pool closes on November 10.

🎉 Litecoin turns 15
Launched in 2011 with Scrypt and 2.5-minute blocks, LTC has come a long way.
Since 2014, Merged mining has let the same hashrate mine $LTC + $DOGE.
Happy birthday, @litecoin 💜

Bitcoin mining didn’t move in one direction last week — hashrate shifted between regions, public miners adjusted treasury strategy, and power costs stayed in focus.
#EMCDMiningDigest | Oct 5–11 ⛏️
🟣 Global Bitcoin hashrate stayed roughly flat at ~941 EH/s, but the regional mix changed. The US remained #1 at ~335 EH/s, China fell to ~110 EH/s, Paraguay held ~45 EH/s, while Venezuela rose ~67% QoQ to ~10 EH/s.
🟣 CleanSpark mined 529 BTC in September but sold 702 BTC, ending the month with 13,530 BTC. The company is also moving from monthly operating updates to standard quarterly reporting.
🟣 Luxor put the annualized financing spread for hashrate-based structures at 6–13%. These deals can provide non-dilutive capital, but delivery, collateral and counterparty risk still matter.
🟣 The US Department of Energy backed proposed PJM reforms that would shift more generation and infrastructure costs toward large new electricity users instead of existing customers.
🟣 PowerCompute used 267.4 BTC to repay a $22.45M Bitcoin-backed facility, cutting secured debt from $23.7M to about $1.25M.
Mining economics are increasingly about more than BTC price: geography, power access, financing and treasury strategy all matter.

What happens to Bitcoin's security when miners have to rely on fees alone?
A panel at the @BTCtreasuries tackled the question.
@jgarzik, Co-founder and CEO of Hemi Labs, didn’t claim to have the solution, but he explained why he isn’t worried 👇
🧵
The other speakers questioned the premise itself.
@danheld: there’s no agreed measure of how much security Bitcoin needs. In its early years the network was secured by far less value, and no one mounted a 51% attack.
@isabelfoxenduke: long-term models assume Bitcoin stays mainly a store of value. If it sees more use for payments, fees could play a much bigger role in miner economics.
For miners, the pressure arrives long before 2140: the subsidy halves roughly every four years.
Whatever the long-term security model turns out to be, the variables you control today stay the same: power cost, uptime and efficiency per terahash.
How are you planning for the next halving?
