🔴 AN OLD PROPOSAL. A CONTEMPORARY DEBATE.
🔴In July 2026, Gina Rinehart advocated a northern special economic zone with no personal income tax—directly or through rebates—and removal of specified state taxes. Her article is republished on Hancock Iron Ore’s website.
🔴That is a documented overlap with the IPA’s earlier agenda. It does not establish that the proposals are identical or that the full package became law.
🔴 WHO BENEFITS? WHO PAYS?
Before accepting promises of northern prosperity, ask:
♦️ How would lost revenue be replaced?
♦️ Who funds housing, hospitals and other public services?
♦️ What protects local and migrant workers?
♦️ How do Traditional Owners share in decisions and benefits?
♦️ What independent evidence supports each proposed dam?
Development should be judged by lasting community benefits, environmental safeguards and public accountability.

If we can't even go to the beach with our families in safety, are we even Australian anymore?
Above all else our political leaders are supposed to keep us safe. They haven’t.
It demands accountability at the highest levels of Government, including resignations of responsible ministers.
@Tony_Burke should resign as a start - for not giving our excellent intelligence personnel the resources and priorities needed to keep us safe.
But this Governments attempt to hide and deflect blame is a shameful signal they wish to avoid accountability, cannot appreciate the threat facing Australians and do not wish to undertake the hard work required to keep us safe again.
Prime Minister Albanese has called for a coming together in the aftermath of this massacre.
But achieving unity and solidarity also requires accountability. And accountability starts at the top.
Without accountability, Albanese's words are mere cowardly platitudes, destined to be repeated again after more tragedies in the future.

In 2008, the Australian Government increased the tax on ready-to-drink, spirit-based beverages—often called “alcopops”—closing a tax advantage they had enjoyed compared with straight spirits.
The measure responded to concerns about alcohol consumption and harm among young people. Background: Medical Journal of Australia.
🔴 PUBLIC HEALTH BELONGS IN THE DEBATE
Alcohol taxes deserve scrutiny. So do proposals to repeal them.
🔴A 2011 medical-journal analysis reported falling premixed-drink sales after the increase, while acknowledging the limitations of before-and-after comparisons. Its authors argued for broader reform covering alcohol pricing, availability, promotion, education and treatment. Read the analysis.
The question for the IPA’s proposal is straightforward:
