"When I'm writing, it transports me to into another place, a place where time moves differently. Each word fills in a piece of the puzzle and the story." - Wrtr #amwriting Be #Writing #Writer #Author ~ I don't always know where the story is going. A love/hate thing.

This is the whole problem.
People think “there are no rules” is empowering—but it’s a trap.
It’s like telling a beginner guitarist, “Don’t worry about chords, scales, or rhythm—just play whatever you feel, and don’t let anyone make you feel bad about your artistic voice.”
That’s not freedom. That’s neglect.
Writing is a skill. Like music, dance, or painting. You can learn it. You should learn it. And yes—there are rules. Not arbitrary ones. Objective ones rooted in how stories work on readers.
Learning the craft doesn’t erase your voice.
It amplifies it.
So yes—you might be an inferior writer right now. That’s not an insult. It’s just the starting line. You get better by learning the structure and principles that make great writing work.

Swear words in Sci-fi
The Dune movies use f*** and s***, and of course the Star Wars IP has recognizable made up ones.
But what about just a new, contained sci-fi story? What would you prefer to read?

Just go ahead and remove these three words from your writing:
1. "Very"
2. "Just"
3. "Suddenly"

Don't write for other people, #turtlewriters. Write for *you*. Write what *you'd* want to read. If you enjoy/love what you write, that enthusiasm will come across in your writing & it will engage readers one day. But all that matters is *your* passion❤️for it. ((hugs)) 🙂🐢🍀

There’s a lot of discourse today about not reading Indie Books because of typos/errors.
I’ve read nearly 50 books this year, and seen typos/errors in almost all of them. But only 10 of those books were by Indie Authors.
Are a few typos really a Deal Breaker for you folks?

Maybe it’s just me, but I find character descriptions to be more distracting than useful 99% of the time.
Unless your MC’s eye color👁️, nose shape 👃, or earlobe length👂🏽has something integral to do with the overarching plot, I frankly just do not care! 🤷🏽♂️
