If intelligence becomes cheap, institutions become everything.
The question isn’t whether AI replaces jobs.
The real question is: who designs the systems that distribute power, capital, and agency in an AI-native world?
That’s the work.
I spent 100 hours over the past week researching, writing and editing the piece we just put out.
It’s a scenario, not a prediction like most of our work. But it was rigorously constructed, dismissing it outright requires the kind of intellectual laziness that tends to get expensive.
And we’ve released it for free. Hopefully you enjoy it.

We can compare this loss on "realized price" to prior ETH lows:
- in 2022, this loss reached -39%
- in 2025, this loss reached -21%
If we apply this "loss" to the current realized ETH price of $2,241, we get implied "lows" for ETH
- using 2022, this implies $1,367
- using 2025, this implies $1,770
What I see isn’t pessimism — it’s structural shift.
Retail hype cycles are fading.
Institutional rails are solidifying.
UX is finally being taken seriously.
Every industry goes through this phase:
speculation → infrastructure → integration.
We’re just entering phase 2.
Denver thoughts and observations
- Institutions are here and it's not the worst thing
- Nobody cares about the alt L1s and new chains
- Many media, services, data co ramping up enterprise side
- Many teams focusing on hiring in US and in particular NYC
- non trivial segment of ppl are getting sick of Vitalik
- I think Hyperliquid, Solana, have sapped significant people out of EVM
- Tourists, shillers gone, nobody talks about meme coins or NFTs
- Many builders (including myself) jaded and saying "DeFi will die unless __"
- More ppl focusing on app UX, abstraction, plugging all the final gaps to be competitive in web2 to compete for net new users
- Crypto Twitter is becoming less relevant, it's LinkedIn for institutions, TikTok/UGC/- Content Automation for consumer, AI Engine Optimization for all
- Everyone's talking about automation, agents, Claude
- Some old heads miss the optimism of DeFi summer
- Most people have zero idea what is happening next in the market but mentally preparing for worse
