Meet the new look for Exit Five. It was time to level up and invest in our brand. To grow up. To have a visual identity that matches our ambitions and evolving Exit Five from my side project to a real business; a company with teammates, big goals, and ambitions to build something memorable.
Today we hit publish on a whole new look and feel for Exit Five. The website is new, the newsletter design, podcast logo, social media - it's all new.
And we're dropped the capital E and capital F and going with "exitfive"
This rebrand is not just a change of visuals but a major inflection point for our business.
At the last two companies I worked at, marketing was the momentum driver. We tried to launch something big every month to move the company forward; to give us a reason to go back out and talk to our audience.
We're taking the same approach now with exitfive, and have a calendar of "marketable moments" planned out from now until the fall.
This week itβs the new brand design, website and newsletter.
Next week weβre announcing our live event & tickets will go on sale.
This is what we review to start our team meetings every Monday.
Marketing can create momentum for the company, and speed can be a competitive advantage.
I've seen it over, and over, and over again. Shipping work = the quicker you get feedback on your ideas, the quicker you learn what's working. That's the whole game.
I love talking about exitfive and all the things weβre up to, but I really want to shout out @eli_rubel and his team atΒ NoBoringDesignΒ for doing this rebrand for us from start to finish. His team works with companies like Loom, Dropbox, CallRail, Yelp, and Productboard. Weβre pumped we were able to work withΒ NoBoringDesignΒ for our redesign.
Other than the visuals (which look awesome), our team loved their working style. They hit every deadline and were easy to communicate with in Slack.Β We made so much progress with Slack, Loom, Figma and a very small number of meetings (it's possible with the right people).
You donβt need to micromanage or give them the details of every project. You give them a rough idea and they make something beautiful out of it. Thatβs a dream scenario for a design partner.
I recorded this quick video to show off the new brand (I particularly love the newsletter) but you can go check out the website and all of our stuff if you want to see.
Daily "Read:Me"
Lastly I keep and regularly review my "daily read:me file"
This note on my phone has:
- Up to 3 ways I currently define success (hint, they're not all business related)
- My 3-5 year goals
- And any life sayings I want to come back to on a regular basis
That's a wrap!

most people will tell you it's not possible, or the wrong time, or crazy. most people aren't entrepreneurs.
I've bought a lot of "stuff" in the past two years.
The two items I can't live without?
- Espresso Machine (Profitec 600)
- Bidet (Todo Washlet)
Both bring me daily joy, and one of the two became a new hobby (the espresso machine, c'mon ya'll)
Le sigh... π€·ββοΈ

I know I was undercharging.
So I came up with the Imposter syndrome tax π
