There were plenty of predators on the move today — a Eurasian sparrowhawk and a white-tailed eagle in the photo. I also saw a hen harrier and a pallid harrier. There are still plenty of barnacle geese around.

I was so excited to get my film scans that I posted the eclipse shot immediately. But after picking up the negatives, I realized the flatbed scan didn’t do it justice. @wescan.film made a drum scan — and the result is absolutely mind-blowing!

Mätäjoki is a beautiful name, but it no longer describes this flowing water (the name literally means 'Rotten River' or 'Putrid River'). The rapids have been restored and trout are running again. On Finnish Nature Day, I visited Lassilankoski and Trumpettikoski.
The partial lunar eclipse was visible only for about half an hour and the weather was mostly cloudy. I was fortunate enough to get a glimpse of the Moon through a strip of clear sky.

The total solar eclipse in Spain was my third do there was room to go wild with photography. I ended up taking a series of the eclipse on slide film using multiple exposures. I definitely got a result.
On the eclipse trip people realised from time to time that I am taking photos on film. I just got scans of two films and I did some paparazzi work in a wedding in front of the Basilica of Saint Mary. The fireworks looks cool on film too. Not bad...
The eclipse trip has also been a butterfly trip. In Toulouse before departure I still managed to catch a scarce swallowtail. At Monte Valonsandero, i.e. the eclipse site, I saw among others a great banded grayling, a dark meadow brown and a purple hairstreak.
