At the MEC we are reading the 2026 Perceptions of Electoral Integrity (PEI) Report an independent global assessment of election quality which shows that Malawi is among the countries that recorded the notable improvements in 2025 Elections.

As of 7:00am today, the Malawi Electoral Commission had received results from three by-election areas: Bwaila Constituency in Lilongwe, Kanjuli Ward in Machinga, and Uliwa Ward in Karonga.

Chisankho chapadera cha makhansala komaso aphungu a nyumba ya malamulo, voti yanu, ufulu wanu!!
Chankhandwe polling centre understood the assignment: voters turned out in numbers to make their voices heard. Go and vote.
By-elections are underway in Uliwa Ward (Karonga), Bwaila Constituency (Lilongwe), Mulunguzi Constituency (Balaka), Mikoko Constituency, and Kanjuli Ward.

The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) today, 25 June 2026 opened a training workshops in all three regions for Presiding Officers who will manage polling and results during the 30 June by-election.
