I doubt that this is widely known by American voters.

There is nothing progressive about burning town a town hall and ransacking shops. It’s a total disgrace. Unlike Melenchon this is what @rglucks1 a real progressive actually sounds like: “Today, it is the Republic that is under attack. The ultra-violence that the entire country is witnessing is unprecedented. These thousands of rioters couldn’t care less about the ongoing social movement or the high school students’ demands. They are there only to strike, burn, and smash. Vandalizing town halls, targeting all symbols of the State and public services, burning fire trucks, looting and setting fire to businesses—it is unjustifiable and unacceptable. The Republic cannot yield. The hundreds of thousands of peaceful demonstrators who came to protest against the high cost of living and injustice, for education and to defend their dignity, see their legitimate demands and requests this evening drowned out by the clamor of the rioters. It is urgent that calm be restored, that the Republic regain the upper hand, and that France escape this spiral of violence that will end up engulfing us all. What our country needs is a great republican surge.”

It’s quite a big thing to be this indifferent towards *the existence* of another country - not its government, but the country itself. Imagine if Nigel Farage started questioning the existence of Spain or India Many politicians lack even a teeny bit of foreign policy knowledge

Very powerful letter from Highgate Synagogue to Mark Blake, the Green leader of Haringey council. He tells them he is ‘embarassed’ by the ‘Zionism is racism’ motion. This synagogue, where I saw British/ Israeli @EmilyDamari1 being welcomed has responded in blistering form: ‘If this motion does not mean that Jews in Haringey who have family or friends in Israel, or who attend our synagogue, or who maybe aren't religious but believe that there is a place for a haven for the tattered remnant of the most persecuted race on earth, are considered by you and your party as racists and by implication fair game for ostracism, intimidation, violence or worse, please explain to us what else it means. ‘And if that is indeed what it means, and we are pretty sure that those who voted for it believe that is precisely what it means, how can we as Jews feel safe when the largest party of the borough we live in, entirely peacefully up to now, publicly align yourself with the most virulent jew-hating racists of all, Hamas and the Nazis. ‘As it is, despite living in one of the most peaceful and crime free parts of the borough, we have had as a synagogue to invest substantial sums in building terrorism-proof fences round our premises, and employ both volunteers and professional security with stab vests to ensure we can continue to function not just as a place of worship but as a focus for our community. ‘In addition to our daily threat of the kind of lethal attacks we saw in Manchester and closer to home in Golders Green, we are having to cope with myriad, not so trivial, microaggressions such that our elderly are frightened to identify as Jewish when going into an NHS hospital, parents are worried about sending their children to universities for fear of the abuse they are likely to receive, and young Jews starting their careers are hiding their identity in case it damages their prospects or leads to ostracism and abuse in the workplace. ‘That is a direct result of you and your comrades' obsessive and ignorantly one-sided view of one of the world's most intractable conflicts and your determination to bring that obsession into every facet of life here in Britain.’

Presumably the reason why the US is pulling its planes out of the UK and not Germany is because Israel is now no longer sharing intelligence with MI6 thanks to shit-for-brains Miliband...
Not just in the #UK. - Iranian intelligence services are said to be focusing on US military bases in #Germany, especially #Ramstein and #Spangdahlem, over possible covert attacks tied to the #Iran war. - According to Western intelligence officials #Israel alerted Washington and Berlin that bases supporting US operations and logistics linked to the conflict could be at risk. - Ramstein is the main US air hub for Europe and the Middle East; Spangdahlem hosts a fighter wing. - Related reporting in the New York Times a few days earlier said Israel had warned Germany of a higher risk to US sites on German soil, naming Ramstein and Spangdahlem, based on mid-September intelligence about possible Iranian-backed attacks in Europe (also including #RAF #Fairford in Britain). - Those assessments mentioned drones as one possible method but gave no specific time or target. wiwo.de/politik/deutschland/…

A little glimpse of everyday Victorian life, caught on film in 1897. Passengers getting on and off a train at Bushey Station, while others stop and stare at the strange new movie camera. Filmed by early filmmaker Charles Goodwin Norton, who can actually be seen on the platform with his children. (the bearded man who points at the camera) Just ordinary people going about their day 129 years ago. #Victorian #RailwayHistory #OldLondon #History

This is economic illiteracy of a high order. After separation Scotland would still use sterling. So it would have to borrow in £s to cover its massive budget deficit and promise lenders it would pay back in £s (or they won’t lend). But after an unspecified transition it would move to a Scottish currency. But all the borrowing done during the transition would have to be paid back in sterling. If the Scottish currency plummeted v sterling (likely given the size of the deficit, lack of credit track record etc) that could become an unmanageable burden given the likely poor exchange rate. Scotland would have to borrow billions in its own currency just to convert to sterling to pay back lenders. Devaluing the Scottish currency further. What a shambles that would be. He has no idea what he’s talking about.
Swinney says an "independent" Scotland would convert to a Scots currency 🤣🤡

This may be the most disgusting thing I've seen on a mainstream channel. @skynews is broadcasting live coverage of the October 7 memorial from Nova. Overlaying it is @adamparsons giving his view that the real villains are the Israeli cabinet. Listen to it. It's vile

This is not a drill anymore. Yesterday in Amsterdam, dozens—perhaps hundreds—of people were chanting: “Long live 7 October.” This is outright glorification of one of the most brutal terrorist attacks in modern history, and the deadliest antisemitic massacre since the Holocaust. I don’t care who the people hiding behind those keffiyehs are, where they were born, or what their religion is. If you openly glorify terrorism and mass murder, you should be arrested and prosecuted, and deported where the law permits. We cannot build a functioning society if people are allowed to openly celebrate the mass murder of Jews, and we cannot expect Jews to stay in Europe if we simply let this pass. I would say exactly the same thing if far-right extremists were openly celebrating the Holocaust or Anders Breivik’s terrorist attack in the streets. The double standard here is staggering. In Belgium, people have been prosecuted for making offensive jokes about the Holocaust. Even Holocaust denial or minimization—not just glorification—is illegal. Yet we’re supposed to tolerate people openly celebrating a modern-day massacre of Jews? You cannot build a functioning society with people who openly celebrate the mass murder of innocent civilians. @ministerieJenV

Let's remember what happened three years ago today. A 6,000-strong army of Islamofascists invaded the Jewish nation. They used guns, rocket launchers, knives, axes and shovels to slaughter 1,182 people. They wounded 4,000 more. The vast majority of their victims were Jews. That was the intention: to spill Jewish blood, the more the better. Their crimes defied moral comprehension. Mothers were murdered in front of their children. Women were raped and mutilated on the fields where they'd been dancing just an hour earlier. A 92-year-old Holocaust survivor was murdered with a rocket-propelled grenade. He survived European fascism but could not survive Islamofascism. ✍️ Brendan O’Neill Article | spectator.com/article/how-th… | @spikedonline
