Too many of our journalists don't see the connections between these chaotic forces: there's a direct line from Hamas and Hezbollah to Iran, then to Russia, & with further connections out to China, North Korea + assorted African and S American dictatorships. It's one war.

Hey, didn’t you get the CPC memo? You’re supposed to be ignoring the new party!
Sooo ridiculouuus!
When you start a political party and start criticizing the conservatives for having a platform that people actually want...
It's not going to go well for you.

Consistent with my post yesterday, the Bill C-18 regulations are stacked against small, independent and digital-first media outlets. This was a major issue during the hearings and @PascaleStOnge_ just brought it right back.

I had to repeatedly re-read CRTC Bill C-18 plan to believe it. Prospect of no negotiation until 2025, no approved deals until 2026, and blocked news links for years. Multiple own-goals for Canadians, media outlets, and Canada’s digital policy reputation.

The government repeatedly cut off debate on Bill C-18 to fast track it into law before the summer. It takes effect before end of 2023, but CRTC now says the bargaining process won’t start until 2025. What a mess: blocked news links and no deals for years.

Consequences of Bill C-18 were predictable and a deliberate choice. Government could have mandated contributions without invoking links, limited scope to exclude small and foreign sites from blocking or exempted some links. Instead it repeatedly cut off debate and ignored risks.
Coming talk by #RockyLinux at the Greater Toronto Linux User Group (#GTALUG) September meeting has been months in planning.

A question for @Metrolinx:
I'm very literally two blocks north of the under-construction Line 6. And lately I've been driving more along Finch along the path of the tracks. Â At each station there's a kind of circle-T logo above the TTC one. What's up with that?
