People mass-share drives with hundreds of fics on them on every social media site imaginable to thousands and are surprised said drives are getting deleted by G. Here's an idea: don't promote your drives for attention on social media and they won't get deleted.
Anyway, that's enough of this discourse. My FY tab is a mess and if I see one more "actually, you don't own your writing☝️" tweet by the crowd that's now gone over to reposting fics on tiktok and vibe-coded ai sites I'll pick up smoking again

y'all make it so difficult to agree with even your somewhat valid takes regarding ao3 authors because of how rude and callous you are towards them. i've never seen people be so casually dismissive of any art form as they are of fanfiction. it's genuinely demoralizing.
This is it. I've seen writers who don't want their work shared on gdrive get told to their faces that they're ruining fandom and that they're the equivalent of anti piracy published authors and that's still the nicest of the things I've seen. Others get told to gtfo.

put it this way: i'm a fanartist, and i'm totally alright with people printing my fanart out for their personal enjoyment. i would not be okay with someone printing out 200 copies of my fanart to hand out for free at an event without my permission or knowledge.

people understand not reposting fanart to different places without consent but when it's fanfic it's lesser and not worth the same courtesy
lol. Ao3 goes down for weeks and the internet acts like the world is ending. People start trading fics like Pokémon cards, but writers can't ask for a thanks and should only write just to write and for themselves but also still share it because the world ends if they don't.
