Dear @NBC10Boston, I’m so glad you’re taking an interest in the handgun violence that occasionally curses our neighborhood but is there any chance you could not add insult to injury by keeping my toddler awake to the sound of your circling helicopter for an hour afterwords?
Police are a gang. We are the victims.
A police officer in NYC faced demotion and retaliation from higher-ranking cops because he was ticketing drivers that have "courtesy cards" issued by police unions that normally let drivers get away with violations, and now, taxpayers have to pay him a $175k settlement.

One of my probably fairly unpopular opinions is that our cities should have 50% more cops and they should get many times as much training but that the vast majority of them should not carry guns.
I guess if you want a bus lane to go away you should just…double park in it repeatedly?
The Wu administration plans to remove a bus lane on Summer Street that runs through South Boston, citing data from a six-month pilot that showed it wasn’t working as intended, largely because cars were illegally using it more than buses. trib.al/fo1f5b6
There are quite a few middle class Americans who spend many times this amount on large guns that serve no useful purpose whatsoever.
Oh look another way that EVs are not going to save us from cars destroying the natural environment washington.edu/news/2020/12/…
Good.
ALERT: There are Boston Police officers posing as pedestrians in South Boston this week, handing out $200 citations to drivers not stopping for a pedestrian in the crosswalk.
Folks with young kids: We’re going to be visiting Montreal this weekend and are hoping to do a ton of walking around.
Any recommendations?
(Also, it looks like it’s going to rain, for what that’s worth)
Personally I’m just not comfortable with the idea of such a small number of pretty weird people being in control of such a large portion of the world’s wealth. It gives them too much power.
a mental model people have of taxing the rich is based on consumption—why should Bezos enjoy his third megayacht while people shiver on the street—but at certain level of wealth higher taxes don’t really alter consumption but rather investment…I feel like some sort of progressive consumption tax would better address the equity concerns that drive this conversation
The goal should not be "let's try to figure out how to have a slightly better process for granting special permits"
The goal should be to not require so many special permits in the first place.
As we work to improve Boston’s development review process, we looked at cities across North America to learn from their experiences. Check out our peer cities reports on our project page to learn more: bostonplans.org/projects/imp…

There are no words
Candidate for Boston City Council @VitaleforBoston insists on parking in a bike lane, gets ticketed, and has her driving privileges removed.
It’s pretty frustrating that the city’s takeaway from this was “we need even more meetings” and not “let’s just let the elected officials do the thing we elected them to do”
Replying to @BostonPlans
We found that the individuals already engaged with the Planning Department are not representative of the City of Boston. Check out who currently participates in development review versus the demographics of all City residents. (2/4)
