Willy Brandt was a famous demographer.... Who dabbled in being a chancellor of Germany as a side hustle. He popularised the concept of 'Rich North, Poor South' that still endures today. Our GCSE children criticise his work as overly simplistic and outdated for a modern world.

We've walked the equivalent of 2 marathons in under 5 days. 100,000+ amazing steps. Now it's time to fly home. Follow our flight - BA425. I will post an ETA when we are through security and on our coach home.

Vesuvius from Pompeii's forum. 250,000 elephants (weight) of ash per second erupted from the volcano - lasting roughly 18 hours! We were really lucky to see a dig in progress, still uncovering the ancient city of 20,000 people from at least 6m of ash

The crater! You can see the fumaroles behind us. Perfect weather today to see inside the crater which is frequently obscured by cloud
