With an entry not being submitted in Circa's Grandissimo, lot of respect goes out to the Rams for doing the right thing and just losing the game outright.
Yes, the Dodgers payroll is billions and in the 2nd half they had sweeps of KC, COL, PIT, WAS, CIN, and SF x2. But against playoff teams since July 31?
0-3 BOS
0-3 CHC
1-3 MIL
0-3 ATL
1-2 SD
That's how they closed. Would have been shocking to see them beat MLB's best team.
Blake Snell is as infamous as they come for being pulled early...perhaps there have been good reasons.
Of course, this wasn't a challenge. He barely taps on the side of his head, and as we've seen countless times, they argue it and make it clear. He also had zero (0) challenges on the season.
Now all I can do is imagine the outrage if the ump called it a challenge and it lost.
Whether to get the ball 1st/2nd in OT is widely debated with people on both sides, but if it's dictated by coaching and game script (as it prob should be?), Rams receiving just *has* to be correct. 68 pts in reg, not playing for 0-0. McVay smart enough to play for only TD down 3.
Josh Allen doesn't get enough "credit" for his interceptions. Launching the ball 50 yards where your receiver can make a play, you can get a penalty, or it results in an effective punt on 3rd and long is just pretty good football.
If you ignore that Mark Andrews dropped a touchdown, and that he dropped 2 pt conversion, and that his only catch he then fumbled for a touchdown, he's been pretty solid this game.
If your 1st possession involves having 2nd and goal on the 1, running a wildcat to lose a yard, and then wind up kicking a FG on 4th and goal from the 2, you should be fired long before there's a 2nd possession.
The NFC east had a team playing an 0-4 opponent with an undrafted rookie QB at home as 8+ pt favorites, a team who kicked a FG to take the lead with 8 seconds left on the clock, and 2 teams playing against each other.
They won 0 games.
Imagine taking the Commanders in Survivor and having them blow a massive lead and then tie because they are well coached and forgot they were playing a football game...
Honestly it's rare to see a take that is this unequivocally wrong. I've never even heard someone think you should be doing everything in your power to get a game to overtime vs everything in your power to win the game...
Will there be a point in our lifetimes where a person could feel good about using the Dallas Cowboys in Survivor?
Not a soul will agree with me on this, but I kinda like the idea of cutting down the season from 162 games to 154, but...
Counting stats would still count up to your team's 1st 162 games into the playoffs. So HRs/RBIs, but batting title is over. (Small) Reward for winning games.
The mental struggles someone must be going through to think a player sliding to guarantee a win vs scoring and leaving the outcome up in the air (even if ~99%) is hard to grasp.
To call a game the "worst beat of all time" when a team was covering the spread for 0.0 seconds...
This ATL/LAD game is already fascinating and we're 5 batters in. Both teams are super disciplined when it comes to challenging as batters, and Roberto Ortiz behind the plate is missing almost every call... #NLDS
Changing the entire way MLB works is fine with me, but then it needs an *actual* overhaul. You can't have an AL West when all 5 teams are awful and put more weight on it. And you can't have an AL, which is orders of magnitude worse than the NL, play 114 games instead of 48 vs NL.
The best interleague record in the AL was 27-21. There were 5 teams in the NL who performed better including CIN/WAS. Winning 50-57% of games when you play 114/162 vs a league that bad just isn't that impressive when the Reds are winning >60%. 81-81 in the AL west is flatout bad.
