Before AI, I can only have about 5 unfinished papers and 1 polished paper. AI boosted my productivity so much that I now have 136 unfinished papers and 1 polished paper.

How should boards govern AI systems that are already making decisions about credit, pricing, and hiring? Wrote about this for @bworldph. Short answer: Apply the same governance discipline you already use for financial models and cybersecurity programs. bworldonline.com/opinion/202…

Farewell to a Filipino tech icon. I cherish the few times I had the opportunity to chat with Dado about data science, AI, and technology in general. He was an inspiration to many. Rest in peace, Dado. My deepest condolences to his family.
One of the many highlights of my visit to the PHL---engaging the legendary Dado Banatao in a conversation! #fangirl BRB, Pilipinas! 😊

This just reminds me how we really need to have data backups, even for data stored in the cloud with these providers. Huhu

We can’t just keep buying flashy tech from vendors. If users aren’t equipped to use it, it’s wasted investment. AI and other tech look great in demos, but real impact comes from operationalizing them. How do they work on the ground? How do we ensure adoption? Literacy and change management matter.

"This is the latest 'love team'—AI and education. DepEd is a good home for it. AI can really fast-track solutions and jumpstart a lot of things in the education system." IN PHOTOS: The Department of Education, through the initiative of Secretary Sonny Angara, launched the Education Center for AI Research (E-CAIR). E-CAIR is a strategic initiative under DepEd that will tap AI technologies to solve long-standing challenges, particularly in distributing the voucher program efficiently, gathering health information of learners, improving client relations through a quick response tool for queries and concerns of the public, and mapping out schools that need additional facilities and learning materials. #DepEdPhilippines #BagongPilipinas

Better late than never 🖤 Thank you, Tatler Philippines , for the thoughtful gesture of delivering my trophy 🏆 Now the Tatler Impact Award for Science & Innovation feels truly real! 🥰 Also grateful to @TatlerAsia for the Most Influential award. (I missed the Tatler Ball due to health reasons, and it truly pained me not to be there to celebrate such a special, special moment.)

Recently, I’ve been more candid about the importance of upskilling and reskilling to protect workers amid rapid tech changes, especially AI. Three ideas in a thread. 👇 #FutureOfWork #AI #Upskilling

The future of work isn't about saving every job 🤷🏻‍♀️that's simply not possible. We must prepare ourselves for inevitable changes. But with institutional support plus personal initiative, we can better navigate this new IR, regardless of whether we call it the 4th, 5th, or 6th.

We must commit to being intentional and adaptable as we face these changes. We owe it to ourselves. #Upskilling #LifelongLearning

Teaching educators (I mean basic education teachers) the basics of the science behind AI and its tools broadens their understanding of what AI can and cannot do. This know-how is crucial—not only for their own growth but also to better equip their students for an AI-driven world.

Consider me impressed. While some of us may disagree with his opinion, he articulates his thoughts on AI remarkably well and demonstrates a good intuition of (high-level) technical concepts. Definitely better than most policymakers, government officials I know—even fellow academics. 🤭
Didn’t expect Ben Affleck to have the most articulate and realistic explanation where video models and Hollywood is going

The first try might be your only try in AI. I recently had a great conversation with a top exec about the challenges & opportunities in AI. The key takeaway: it’s not just about tech, but strategy & culture. Many early AI adopters poured millions into tech, only to be disappointed. Why? Lack of clear strategy and focus on hype over business needs. A failed AI project can erode trust in AI and digital transformation as a whole.

To succeed in AI in enterprises (especially for the more traditional, non-digital natives), start with a clear business case, set realistic expectations, and treat AI as a long-term strategy. Your first hires in data leadership are crucial.
