Many people think that the words “Artificial Intelligence” are inaccurate, and very ineloquent, relative to AI, or Artificial Intelligence. A far more elegant and accurate description of this new phenomena would be Superior Intelligence (SI) or, Extreme Intelligence (EI) or, Supreme Intelligence (SI). This is a Poll, and I would appreciate everybody voting! Which is the best name for this ever growing “Revolution?” President DONALD J. TRUMP

The Rolling Stones, Aretha , Bob Dylan , and many others recorded at FAME Studio and Muscle Shoals Sound. Home to a great small business culture, Florence has some great eateries and the iconic Shoals Theatre.
Florence, Alabama sits on the Tennessee River in the northwest corner of the state, and it’s one of those places that has a lot more going on than you might expect.
Music is a big part of the story here.
Florence is part of the Shoals, along with Muscle Shoals, Sheffield and Tuscumbia. W.C. Handy was born here in 1873, and his former home is now a museum.
Across the river, FAME Studios and Muscle Shoals Sound Studio became legendary. Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan all recorded in the area.
That history still hangs around.
Downtown Florence has live music, restaurants, bars and old storefronts. FloBama is one of the better-known places to catch a band and grab something to eat.
The river is always close, too.
McFarland Park sits right along the Tennessee River, and River Heritage Park is another easy place to walk around and spend some time by the water.
Court Street runs through the heart of downtown, with local shops, restaurants and the flagship store of Alabama designer Billy Reid.
There’s also Trowbridge’s, an old-school ice cream and sandwich shop that has been around for generations.
Then there’s something you probably wouldn’t expect to find in a small Alabama city: a Frank Lloyd Wright house.
The Rosenbaum House was built in 1939 and is the only Frank Lloyd Wright-designed building in Alabama. It’s only a few minutes from downtown and you can tour it.
A day here could be pretty simple.
Walk by the river in the morning. Grab lunch downtown. Tour the Rosenbaum House. Stop by W.C. Handy’s birthplace. Catch some live music that night.
And if you have more time, cross the river and explore the rest of the Shoals.
FAME Studios is in Muscle Shoals. Muscle Shoals Sound Studio is in Sheffield. Helen Keller’s birthplace is nearby in Tuscumbia.
Nashville and Memphis usually get most of the attention when people think about music trips in the South.
Florence and the Shoals are worth knowing about too.
I write about places like this in the Timeless Traveler newsletter.
Places with good food, interesting history and enough character to make you want to stay awhile.
