Going to keep this account open for my bookmarks & the covid/communicable disease list of accounts I maintain here, bc many people on that list haven't migrated to other platforms yet (I expect that to accelerate). But my eyeballs will be elsewhere for everything else.

Good luck out there, sisters - we're going to need it.

Unfortunately this is symptom-level analysis. The actual root cause is that the electorate was programmed to be hyper-sensitive to these topics. Under different circumstances the programming would have been different. The real problem is the programmers' ability to program.
Yeah there's no "shoulda gone to Wisconsin" on this one. This is the result of an electorate that's highly sensitive to inflation and hates immigrants.

Yes, we are headed toward a Potemkin democracy, where institutions will abandon their constitutional prerogatives and place loyalty to Trump above all else. Our Congress will become a rubber stamp, resembling those in Hungary, Russia, and imperial Rome.
One of the most important dynamics to consider is that the Senate and House are now filled with pro-Trump lawmakers. Very, very different from 2017 when he took office. These people were elected running with Trump and are not skeptics. a much different governing dynamic

People are not ready for what's coming
JUST IN: A Jan. 6 defendant is asking Judge Beryl Howell to postpone aspects of his case in light of Trump's election and promise to pardon many involved in the Capitol breach. documentcloud.org/documents/…

Deport them to where? Other countries are not going to take back people that have been living here for years.
Trump will begin operations to deport millions of undocumented immigrants when he starts his term, campaign press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Wednesday morning. He'll launch the "largest mass deportation operation" of undocumented immigrants on Day 1. trib.al/EiapTH0

Dems will not nominate a woman again. If I see a female President in my lifetime, she'll be a Republican.
Everyone always says it's not a problem with *women.* It's just a problem with that particular woman. Every time.

Thinking of that tweet that said American culture is large scale gender affirmation for men.

The conclusion politicians will draw from this election is that voters think high unemployment is preferable to high inflation. So the next time we end up in a recession, there's going to be very little political appetite for big stimulus to get us out of it.
More thoughts to come in the weeks ahead as we get more exit poll data, but Democrats have a lot of tough soul searching to do. Clearly issues beyond inflation at play, but to the extent it did, this graph raises a difficult question about political-economic trade-offs.

It means he is going to take credit for the economy that already exists (as he did before) and over half the country will worship him for it.
Vance's "greatest economic comeback" line is interesting. We've grown faster than any major developed economy over the past 4 yrs. Unemployment is 4.1%. Inflation is 2.1%. The stock market has boomed. What does a "comeback" from that look like?

Last thought before attempting to go to bed: if Americans are willing to reelect Trump after everything he’s said in the past three months, there’s nothing Harris could’ve done.

And again, Democrats fix the economy and hand it over to Republicans to destroy. Each and every time.

More than that, they’re going to be quitting subscriptions. The media failed us. Why should we support it?
Yeah one bet I'm very comfortable making is that liberals aren't going to be buying a bunch of subscriptions again. They don't want another four years of "the walls are closing in" coverage - the walls didn't close in, can't fool 'em twice!

When we get through this the ERA needs to be back in play. Women aren’t second class citizens and our rights and lives should never be on the line like this again.

for 80 millionth time, the only reason Pennsylvania can't do this is because Republicans blocked a bill that would've allowed the pre-processing of early votes
Florida went from laughing stock in 2000 to the national model for fast accurate ballot counting. With 7m voters. Take notes Pennsylvania.
