THE FACTS I am amazed at how much they have FAILED their constituents. Never has a Congress had more recess & dead time than these fools. 65 days on floor this year, a whopping 34 bills voted on. Average floor time is 170 days in session. Yeah Mike, they’re burning that candle

BREAKING: GOTCHA! Kaitlan Collins springs the PERFECT TRAP as MAGA Sen. Bernie Moreno attacks Hunter Biden while defending Don Jr.’s Russian-funded wedding!
Last night, CNN’s Kaitlan Collins asked Republican Sen. Bernie Moreno one simple question: Are you comfortable with a Russian oligarch close to Putin spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on celebrations for Donald Trump Jr.’s wedding?
Moreno’s answer was pure MAGA deflection – and it handed Collins the perfect opening.
“I don’t know who the Russian oligarch is,” Moreno said. “I know that Don Jr. is a great human being, an amazing American, I’m super happy for him and his family that they had a great wedding.”
He then tried to shut the whole thing down: “I think this is not the story that is worthy of your show.” Seconds later, Moreno went straight for some classic whataboutism:
“Look, you compare Don Jr. to Hunter Biden and you have one that’s a complete drug-addicted degenerate compared to a great human being and successful entrepreneur.”Collins didn’t miss a beat.
“Well, I’m glad you bring up Hunter Biden,” she replied. “I mean, if a Russian oligarch had bankrolled some of *his* celebrations, would you have questions about that?”
Moreno launched into the usual Burisma and China talking points, but Collins kept pressing: “So you do think it’s appropriate?”
When he tried to wave it off as “Hunter Biden stories,” she delivered the kill shot:
“Right, but if that’s inappropriate for him, why would this be appropriate?”
Moreno had no answer. He suddenly claimed he didn’t know the circumstances and insisted “there’s not a human being in Ohio that really cares about this story.”
Here’s what he didn’t want to talk about: Russian billionaire Umar Kremlev, a Putin-linked figure, reportedly spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on two nights of celebrations around Don Jr.’s wedding – including a private island and a massive fireworks display.
House Democrats have already opened an investigation into the arrangement, citing national-security and public-corruption concerns.
Moreno could have simply defended the gift on the merits. Instead he volunteered Hunter Biden as the standard for judging foreign money and influence – then immediately choked when Collins asked him to apply that same standard to the Trump family.
And this is exactly what Kaitlan Collins does so well.
She didn’t need a speech. She didn’t need to shout Moreno down. She listened to his answer, caught the contradiction he handed her, and refused to let him escape it by changing the subject.
When Moreno invoked Hunter Biden as the standard, Collins simply made him live by his own standard he just delineated.
That kind of persistence matters. Powerful people rarely volunteer the answer to the question they would rather not be asked, and journalism fails when an interviewer accepts the first deflection and moves along. Collins didn’t.
Fearless, savvy and unwilling to be distracted by the shiny object tossed in front of her, she demonstrated the kind of truth-to-power journalism that matters most when the people being questioned would much rather talk about somebody else.
If you are grateful for journalists like Collins, please like and share this post.

We want our fucking country back. Your neighbor is not your enemy. The teacher down the street. The farmer in Iowa. The Black mother in the Bronx. The white guy driving a pickup truck in Kentucky. The immigrant pouring concrete in August. The boy holding another boys hand. The MAHA mom reading the ingredients on a cereal box. None of them is your enemy.
We have been sold a magnificent steaming pile of bullshit. We have been told that America is two hungry tribes crouched on opposite sides of a river, sharpening knives, waiting for the opportunity to wade across and murder one another.
The great political scam of our time was convincing 340 million people who share a country, schools, roads, rivers, grocery stores, hospitals, fears, children, mortgages, illnesses, dreams and funerals that we have nothing in common. That we are enemies.
There is an enormous amount we agree on. We want clean water. Clean air. We don’t want corporations filling our children’s bodies with poison. We don’t want plastic in our oceans, our soil, our blood and our babies. We want food that is actually fucking food. We want our children educated. We want to be able to go to the doctor without wondering whether the bill will bankrupt us.
We want a decent job. We want Social Security when we’re old. We want politicians to stop using public office as an ATM. We don’t want political violence. We don’t want our government owned by billionaires. We want our votes to matter. We want a country where the law applies to the rich bastard in the penthouse as surely as it applies to the poor bastard standing before a judge.
And while we’re being made afraid of one another, somebody is picking our fucking pockets. The billionaires figured something out before the rest of us did: Anger, fear, loneliness, and resentment are business models. And Donald Trump understood the product better than anybody. Grievance. Barrels and barrels of grievance. Bottle it. Brand it. Sell it.
Tell a man whose factory disappeared that an immigrant stole his country. Tell a struggling mother that some other struggling mother is getting something she isn’t. Tell rural America the cities despise them. Tell the cities rural America wants to destroy them. Tell white people Black people are coming for them. Tell Black people every white neighbor is secretly waiting to put them back in chains.
Keep everybody suspicious. Keep everybody angry. Keep everybody separated. Rape us one by one. Then watch as Trump and the billionaires walk through the wreckage taking everything. We all see it.
Democracy will be saved by finding the places where we already agree and building from there. Citizenship is not a subscription service. Democracy is not something delivered to your doorstep. You don’t get to order it from Amazon. You don’t get to complain that democracy is dying while sitting on the toilet scrolling Instagram. Democracy requires something from us. Time. Courage. Attention. Neighbors. Argument. Forgiveness. Work.
And sometimes the willingness to stand up and say No. No, you will not make me hate my neighbor. No, you will not make me afraid of somebody because they pray differently or vote differently or love differently or were born somewhere else. You will not convince me that cruelty is strength. You will not convince me that corruption is patriotism. You will not convince me that billionaires need another tax break while teachers buy their own fucking pencils. No, you will not divide us and then sell off the pieces to the oligarchs.
Reimagine the country. Rebuild the democracy. Rework the communities. Find each other again. Fight like hell for the enormous territory we share. Because beneath all the noise and bullshit and algorithms and campaign advertisements, there is still a country here. Ours

This is a widely misunderstood area of the law. There are hundreds of thousands of world visitors who come to Vegas to gamble and have a good time. Any winnings they have are subject to a backup withholding percentage of 30% to make sure any tax liability is covered.
In order to facilitate this, the IRS issues a ITIN (Individual Identification Tax Numbers). These numbers allow illegals to file tax returns and ensure the proper tax withholdings are in place.
In the example of Vegas, there are people not American playing who win big. The question comes as to whether their country of origin has a tax treaty with the United States.
The US has a tax treaty with Canada. Canadians are issued the W-2G form and sent on their way. They have the right to file a 1040-NR to claim a return on the amount on money that was withheld from them by the casino and remitted to the IRS.
The IRS systems don't talk to other federal systems, with the exception of Social Security Systems.
I know about the 1040-NR because my spouse's Aunt was living in Alberta and paid $4,000 in backup withholding from her winnings. I'm a tax accountant and I filed the return for her and she was able to collect her winnings in their entirety.
That's the short-version of the answer. Illegals pay many taxes that most unsophisticated Americans who don't understand. I've been doing taxes and auditing for 30 years, and you'd be surprised by the questions that we see coming up all the time.
The one thing that is a hot button issue for me is the claim that they're here mooching off us, and we're paying all this out and they're paying nothing in. Its simply not true. They may be illegal, but they are a functioning part of the economy. They have kids, families, they work, they have kids in schools, they go to church, and they fit in with local communities.
The accusation is raised that illegals are a NET DRAIN on the US Economy. There is no concrete data to prove that out. If they're working, paying taxes, supporting the local economy, and they make it their home for years and years, chances are they're either breaking even or they're overpaying their fair share. That is not me being "pro-illegal-immigrant." I seriously had some moron telling me I was "buying in" to the "illegal alien lobby." Imagine my shock when I asked him the address and phone number of that lobby.
There are estimates and our intelligence on the subject is sharpening all the time. But honestly, the big area illegals hit is healthcare. And that is not as portrayed by Joy whatever her last name was. That bitch has so many lies coming out her ass she could stink out the Washington Mall. She claims illegals are making $3,500 roughly and living it up on the high hog we call US government funds.
Again, this number is a complete bullshit lie. There is a program within Social Security that covers those applying for refugee status, asylum seekers, and the disabled who never paid into the system. That amount is $994 per adult individual, and $1,491 for a couple. They do receive SNAP benefits, and they do have access to Medicaid and section 8 for housing.
Consider this, you have people begging you to take them in because they come from a land with mass genocide and are in real danger. They're the refugees. Then take the asylum seekers, and these include foreign scientists, former leaders, and others in that type of position that could be useful to America, they'll have those benefits for a short period of time.
I see people bitch about this, but seriously. The America First circa 2016 has gotten tired of arguing this. When you have a family from Vietnam, Ukraine, and any other of countries where there are atrocities are going on coming to the United States, their cases have to be given judicial review.
So the question is, what do you do with them when they've been let in. they have nothing to their name and need to get squared away and given the chance to start a new life.
They obtain legal status and they are then transitioning to be self-reliant. They phase off social benefits. People have needs, for some strange reason, they have to take a shit just live the rest of the world. Accepting refugees or asylum seekers, is a humanitarian thing. That won't go over well with America First. Seriously, think about it, we can be America First, but one of the best atributes about America is our kind and generous citizenry. Those people coming here from other lands find that there is no place like America.
The social safety net program amounts that are used to set up refugees and asylum seekers initially keep them from being homeless. Many have families and have barely the clothes on their backs. My husband's family were all Vietnam refugees from the war. They came to the US legally and they made good. Working hard as most Asians tend to do, they amassed an impressive sum.
People who come to this country legally, become citizens or remain resident Aliens have faced hardships that many Americans could only imagine on a TV movie. The only difference is the exact story is worse and inappropriate to televise.
As much as we pursue illegals, we need to be aware that those here legally are covered by most of the constitution. They have the same right to due process.
Those who are all in favor of deporting and denaturalizing any citizen or resident alien is insane and bigoted. Everyone traces back to an immigrant in the past 300 years. Read what the Statue of Liberty states in her book. Most people don't know it.

I was at Walmart today, minding my own business and checking out the zucchini.
A woman walked up next to me with who I assume was her husband. She was wearing a hijab.
And then… absolutely nothing happened.
She went about her shopping. I went about mine. Her choice to wear a hijab had absolutely zero impact on my day, my freedom, or my ability to buy zucchini.
She didn’t tell me I needed to wear one.
She didn’t try to force one on me.
She didn’t hold me down and put one on my head.
I know. Crazy, right?
Almost like people can practice their own religion, wear what they choose, and live their lives without forcing everyone else to live the same way.
Wild concept.

Born in Detroit to Egyptian immigrant parents, Dr. Abdul El-Sayed is a Rhodes Scholar with two doctorates who became Detroit's youngest-ever health director at age 30 before going on to teach epidemiology at Columbia University.
Calling him a "radical Islamist" makes you look stupid, not him.
What is chilling is Trump and MAGA ranting about rampant voter fraud across the US for the past 10 years w/o being able to prove enough to have changed ANY election, but Trump is the one on tape in 2021 asking Raffensperger to find him “11,780 votes”. That’s not inducing fraud?

Los Angeles has approximately 3.0 million registered Democrats and 1.2 million registered Republicans. Democrats outnumber Republicans by about 1.8 million voters, or roughly 2.5 to 1. This is one of the major reason Pratt lost in Los Angeles!

BREAKING: NOT SO FAST! Federal judge reopens Trump’s IRS case and demands to know if her court was defrauded.
Judge Kathleen Williams has had enough.
In a brief but devastating order Friday, the federal judge in Miami reopened Donald Trump's $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS — a case Trump had voluntarily dismissed last week specifically to avoid her scrutiny — and ordered Trump's lawyers to explain by June 12th why she shouldn't find that the entire scheme was a fraud perpetrated against her court.
The judge's language was pointed and precise. She said she wanted to investigate "grievous allegations" that the deal to resolve the case was "premised on deception." She asserted that she was "empowered to investigate serious misconduct" and demanded answers to two devastating questions: was "the court the victim of a fraud," and did Trump collude with his own government to settle the case specifically "to avoid judicial scrutiny"?
The answer to both questions, based on everything that has already been reported, appears to be yes.
Judge Williams had been circling this case for weeks before Trump pulled it. She had openly questioned how Trump could sue an agency he controls, with government lawyers who answer to him, producing a settlement negotiated with officials he appointed. She ordered both sides to explain whether they were actually adversaries or secretly colluding. Trump dismissed the case the day before those briefs were due.
Then, after she closed it, the Justice Department released not one but two extraordinary agreements — a $1.776 billion fund to compensate Trump's allies, and a separate one-page document permanently barring the IRS from ever auditing Trump, his family, or his businesses. Agreements that had apparently been negotiated while the case was supposedly active before her court.
Judge Williams cited the New York Times report revealing that the IRS had prepared a 25-page memo outlining strong defenses against Trump's suit — defenses the Justice Department never raised in court, never filed, never mentioned.
Her order came directly in response to the filing by 35 former federal judges — appointed by presidents of both parties — who called the scheme a fraud and urged her to reopen the case.
She listened.
"We stand ready to work with the court as it investigates this matter," said Norman Eisen, who represented the former judges.
Trump tried to flip the table before she could see the cards. She just put them back on the table.
If you can’t wait to see the Justice Department try to explain itself, please like and share this post everywhere.
