I hated working w one of my editing clients back in the day All because I didn’t say: “Hey I can’t do 3-day turnaround if you’re inconsistent” “Hey repurposing into a short is gonna be extra $100” “Hey I’d appreciate a 3-day notice before a new vid” Don’t be like me fr

Editors gets absolutely cooked by the parkinsons law “Work expands to fill the time available” I worked with an editor 1:1 and once he realized that $3k/month is $750 a week… Suddenly $300 vids started taking 3 days, not 7

I’m in Bali rn and here you always get your food delivered to you A few days ago, I spoke to a friend who’s been here for over a year and he loves it I said it kinda sucks that you have to meet the delivery guy every time and they can’t leave your food somewhere because of local dogs lol He said he lives on the 2nd floor so the delivery guy always leaves the food under his door That’s a silly example of a tiny thing that makes his daily experience slightly better But here’s the thing: Everything you do is made up of tiny things like that Editing, gym, whatever you do daily And these tiny things are UNCOPYABLE You can’t copy someone else’s editing workflow and expect it to make you faster You can’t copy someone else’s youtube video and expect it to perform well You can’t copy someone else’s business in a different niche and expect to make a bunch of money Been thinking a lot about this recently because every time I speak to someone I look up to I realize they figured out an approach that works for specifically for them

I was at $500 two years in as well Rooting for you bro 👊
2yrs in, worked with 3-4 clients and averaged ~$350-$500/month ☹️ So now aiming to hit $1-2k consistently because unpredictable income sucks. Today I saw and bought the $1K in 30 challenge by @EditorArtem. Making this public so I take it seriously. Meet you all at $1K/month🫡

You gotta make your editing repeatable I spoke to a business owner yesterday who always needs editors for his $20k clients: “My clients are posting 2-3x a week. The editor HAS to turnaround in 48h They gotta systemize their workflow or otherwise they’re screwed”

Do I start a daily tweet challenge while getting my steps in? Treadmill is goated when you have shit to do on your phone But sometimes getting back to messages is too jarring yk

Woah it’s crazy that this tweet is at almost 1k likes… An editor figured out how to automate repetitive non-creative tasks in his workflow, And everyone’s hating because they’re so insecure about their skill set… Funnily enough they’re the ones who’ll get replaced by AI 😂
You’re a disgrace and I hope every client past present and future denounces and never works with you again. Fake ass editor.

I keep getting DMs like this from editors who follow @vfxmalice Sayeef doesn’t respond in the DMs so I’ll tweet it out: I’ve been in the editing lair (Sayeef’s program) 3 years ago, and we haven’t spoken since So no, I can’t tell you “how it is” 😂

editors don't pay NEARLY enough attention to: broll selection (a.k.a which part of which clip you use) makes such a huge difference to viewer experience (since viewers actually pay attention to what's happening on screen)

Respect for every editor who has never given up on video editing. Nobody talks about how difficult it is to reach the point where you feel valuable and also make good money. Because it's not just about making money, but also about feeling you're valuable. If you're an editor struggling with this same thing, you're not alone, brother. Stay consistent, stay learning; you're gonna make it. PS: This guy is the goat at editing @editorartem

Lfg Zakirrr 🚀🚀
For the past 2 years, I’ve been trying to turn video editing into my full time income. Re edits, reaching out to clients, learning through tutorials, and constantly improving… My editing skills have come a long way, but turning those skills into consistent income has been has been the hardest part. Then I came across the $1K in 30 challenge by @EditorArtem, and it gave me the push I needed. It’s definitely outside my comfort zone, but I’m committing publicly to this challenge. See you all at $1K/month.🫡
