I'm off to the Good Place. Tidying up has reminded me of all the fun, useful, and thought provoking interactions Twitter gave me. Thanks all.

NEW: Ronaldsway Met Office says it’s recorded 91mph gusts in Castletown and 81mph at the airport, as Storm Éowyn hits the Isle of Man.
Not long to go. The Good Place is getting busier and busier, so do consider joining it! Starter Packs makes it much much easier to find people again.
Good luck to everyone on the Isle of Man facing a hurricane - by the time it gets down to Oxford, estimated to be 40mph, so much less to prepare for, except a potentially flying trampoline.

On Tuesday 21 January 2025 we will be migrating RADAR (radar.brookes.ac.uk), Brookes's institutional repository, to a new cloud infrastructure.
RADAR will be completely unavailable for up to 30 minutes from 9am GMT on the day but may be unstable temporarily during the day.
A few changes to my edgelawblog - adverts now gone, a new page on consultancy and contract research services added, and a page to signup for a newsletter (well, any blog to your email intray when it is posted). edgelawblog.com/

Being an academic means asking the tough questions, like "why did I agree to this?" and "what was I thinking?"

I will stop posting, or looking at posts, on this platform at the end of January. Doing my best to keep in touch with all the great tweeps I've met, but the easiest way to keep in touch is to follow me where the skys are blue. Drop me a line if you need more info.

Needs to be a TV programme where the doctoral student is on screen in a separate room listening to it.
You can also read applications from the recent past on the Tynwald website. If you want to see what sort of people are considered, I did a number of blogs on this - the earlier ones are referred to in the first paragraph of this one: edgelawblog.com/2022/07/29/o…
If you sometimes click through to my blog from a post, just to let you know that it now has a new domain name, and no adverts. It should not be noticeable, but if it had suddenly stopped working for you, the new domain name is why! edgelawblog.com/

New UK laws to stop people marrying cousins won't apply on the Isle of Man, where it'll remain legal to do so.
