BOOK NEWS 📣
I’m still crackling with excitement about working with David Ross and the @PenguinCanada team to bring this book into the world. And it wouldn’t be happening without my brilliant champion @rachelletofsky and the team at @CookeMcDermid.
I’m a happy author. – at Vancouver, British Columbia
My debut novel came out years ago, yet over the past week I’ve had 3 different people reach out to tell me how moved they were by the story. One person said it helped her process the loss of her spouse. There’s such power in writing, and the work lives on long after it’s born.

My new book has a cover, and I’m over the moon with its moody mystique. Kudos to talented designer Emma Dolan and the entire team at @PenguinCanada for giving this book such care.
What do you think? I’d love to know!
The Tiger and the Cosmonaut hits shelves April 29, 2025. Read more about it here and find links to preorder a copy: penguinrandomhouse.ca/books/…

Got an advance copy of my new novel that’s coming out next spring, and I’m pointing at one of my favourite lines in the entire book. Kudos to @penguinrandom for including this on the copyright page for all new and reprinted books going forward.
This is the best I could come up with for today’s #GlobalClimateStrike, but at least it sums up my message: we’re behind the 8-ball, yes, but we still have a chance to avert climate devastation if we act now, together.

I’ve started writing my next novel, and there may be no better feeling. If only I could bottle it for when I’m trudging through the muddy middle a few months from now. – at Vancouver, British Columbia

I never expected that being an author would take me to prison, yet here we are.
Here are a few things I learned from visiting a book club for inmates that read my book:
The experience changed my perspective on people in prison. Nobody wants to be defined by their worst decision, and inmates are no different. I may have met the more hopeful side, but they’re all human like the rest of us, capable of good, bad, and everything in between. – at Vancouver, British Columbia
Thank you to @VanWritersFest and Book Clubs for Inmates for making this appearance possible. I’m grateful for the important work you do. – at Vancouver, British Columbia
