The media plays a crucial role in protecting the Amazon rainforests. When the spotlight is on environmental destruction, politicians will act. Even those openly hostile to the environmental agenda.
🌳 Just accepted 🌳 in @JaereAere:

So happy this paper is finally published! Working together with a transdisciplinary group of scholars and practitioners, we tried to identify ways that zero-deforestation palm oil supply chains could be transformed to better include smallholder producers doi.org/10.1525/elementa.202…
More details in this great thread by @tropicalscience xitter.cf/tropicalscience/status…
Smallholder farmers are key producers of tropical forest risk commodities. In our @elementascience paper, we ask: what challenges do zero deforestation commitments pose to Indonesian oil palm farmers & how can palm oil mills help overcome those barriers? doi.org/10.1525/elementa.202…
So excited to see this news. I first visited the Cochamó Valley when I was starting my PhD research in Chile. Both the landscape and people fighting to protect it were truly inspiring. Glad to see it get the protection it deserves nytimes.com/2024/04/30/clima…

What unfolds when ecosystems shift across national borders due to climate change?
Thrilled to share our latest paper in @nature, which delves into the consequences of these climate-driven biome migrations on human well-being.

This cool paper led by @econ_servation came out in Science this week. Robert highlights the key contributions in this thread. I want to just add some broader context on the empirics and connections to the literature on socio-economic adaptation
Which forests will be most vulnerable to a hotter, drier planet? New research published in @ScienceMagazine with @ClimateFran, @dudney_joan shows that the wet and hot portions of species’ ranges may be the most sensitive to climate change.
