Finland’s President Alexander Stubb:
I think many Europeans, and Americans as well, need to move beyond this mindset that we are somehow doing charity for Ukraine.
Maybe that was the case at the beginning, but now we are learning more from Ukraine than Ukraine is learning from us.
55yrs ago, sat 2m behind Nicklaus next to a thick rope on practice range at Royal Birkdale. Mr Lu to left, Trevino to right, readying for R4 of Open. Looking at range today, glad I made it 55 years ago to experience Open 'up close & personal'. Range has become a golf laboratory.
Sky Sports Open golf coverage is bordering on being unwatchable & unlistenable. Once upon a time it carried the essence of golf & not raw commercial exploitation.
Glory days of Longhurst, Alliss, Carpenter, McCormack Thompson worth living Open golf through, despite age penalty!
Sky Sports 'Live at the Range' shows 2026 Open preps by players & support staff. A very crowded scene to what I experienced 'live at the range', at Birkdale in 1971. I sat next to rope 2m behind Nicklaus, Trevino to right, Mr Lu to left. 1971 Open promoted players, not gadgets.
Watching Women's Amateur live from Muirfield brings memories of walking it 1972 Open, played it 1982.
1972 Trevino Nicklaus Jacklin fought to a finish on 72nd green. Trevino denied Nicklaus 'Jack's slam' by a shot.
1982 played in 2ball, not a soul on course. That blew me away.
Privilege to follow British Amateur Golf C'ship Final from gloriously presented Hoylake. Dulcet tones from a trio of truly golf loving commentators.
Aerial footage the icing on a golfing cake. Hoylake puts Shinnecock to shame. Fans walk fairways next to players. Congrats R&A!

🔎 Australia is strengthening its protections against foreign interference through proposed reforms to the Foreign Arrangements Scheme.
The reforms will help ensure that university research collaborations and other international partnerships align with our national security interests.
In my regular interview on 2CC Radio, I highlighted the importance of protecting sensitive research, technology and intellectual property across Australia's universities and research sector.
