While I appreciate that belift finally put out a notice regarding Jay’s privacy, safety and protection, I am NEVER going to start praising the company simply for announcing the bare minimum. I will be glad when I ACTUALLY see something changing. Bc honestly, belift made statements before, and absolutely nothing happened. I want to see actual action, consistent protection and consequences for the people who continue to invade the artists’ privacy and threaten their safety! And one of my biggest questions is: WHY did it take this long? Why was Jay left alone to deal with this for so long? He shouldn’t have to. None of these artists should have to handle stalking, harassment, threats or invasions of their privacy on their own. That is quite literally what the company is SUPPOSED to be there for. Protecting your artists should NOT be optional and half arsed! And while we’re talking about artist protection, where is the same urgency for everyone else?? Where is the notice and the action regarding the person who’s been stalking and harassing Sunghoon for so long? The incidents involving her being allowed to fan meetings, her following him, his privacy being invaded even at a hotel, and footage being recorded and shared? What about the airport incident where he was chased? Where was the protection then? Where was the immediate response when he was visibly terrified? Where was it when Riki was being threatened, harassed and targeted? Where was it when Heeseung was receiving death threats, being added to group chats, and sent horrible gore involving himself? Where was it when his privacy was repeatedly invaded harassed? What about Jungwon, Sunoo and Jake? What about the constant calls, the stalking, the people following them around and treating their private lives as a joke? I don’t want protection to be something that only becomes a priority when a situation reaches a certain level of public attention it when it’s convenient. I don’t want occasional notices addressing individual incidents while the same patterns continue happening. I want a CONSISTENT approach that protects ALL of the artists. And the timing of this announcement is also very convenient for belift.. coming right before an important meeting, and shortly after information concerning staff and company itself was leaked.. I would hope this is a good step and that Jay receives the protection he should have had all along, and I hope the company finally takes the necessary steps for every single artist under their care. But I am NOT going to congratulate belift for finally acknowledging something that should never have been allowed to continue in the first place! And this goes beyond privacy and security, btw. Protecting artists also means managing their schedules PROPERLY and RESPONSIBLY , allowing them to REST, taking their wellbeing SERIOUSLY and making sure they aren’t constantly pushed to and beyong their limits. I don’t want another promisingly worded notice that disappears into thin air. I want action, consistency and accountability. I want to see the boys ACTUALLY being protected, not just hear that they will be. So no, I will not be sitting here praising belift for doing the bare minimum. I will not be glazing a company for finally acknowledging its responsibilities. I want them safe, protected, healthy, respected and given the space to live their lives without constantly having to deal with bs like this! That should have been the standard from day one.
