I’ve had some time to think about what to say here; and I’ll be honest... I still don’t know. I know I loved her very much, I know you loved her, she was everyone’s favorite person. She was everyone’s best friend. Sandy Boyer took her last breath in the very early hours of August, 11th 2026. Having gone through the comfort care/hospice process once before I was familiar with this; they describe an “end-of-life rally”. “A sudden, unexpected burst of energy and mental clarity, RARELY lasting over 24 hours”. Sandy’s rally was *9 days* long and we shared it with everyone we could find. (Please know, that I did everything I could to message everyone I saw in her phone and could think of) All day, every day, we filled that hospital room with old friends, new friends, co-workers from all walks of her life, traveling hours to see her one last time; and we all brought her all of her flowers while she was still here with us receive them and truly feel it. Lots of laughs, lots of tears, lots of smiles. Even though her body was fading, her mind and heart remained sharp until the very last breath. The first thing she’d do when someone new would enter the room is ask about how they or their family was doing, always caring about others first. That’s what she did. A lot of people continue to thank Bing and I for sharing all of those moments at the end with all of you; the final precious moments and all we had left. But honestly, thank you. I’ve always known she’s meant a lot to a lot of people, but to hear it and see it with over 50+ people that week not only allowed me to get to know my Mom even better; but I’m just so proud, inspired, and thankful that I am her son and I will forever have that. It was so hard, but it was also so very special. I’m behind where I would have liked to have been with all of this, but let’s celebrate her life and spend some time together. I’ll have more to share soon ahead of it, but want to make sure everyone has the date. Please share as far and wide as you can. November 21st, 2026 1:30pm Frontline Community Church 4411 Plainfield Ave NE Grand Rapids, MI 49525 Love you Mom. We’ll be ok, because of you and what you did for all of us. ❤

A bespoke software revolution? I don't buy it. It'll exist. It already exists. Small consultants and big consulting firms have made custom software for years. It almost always sucks. It’s bloated, confusing, and because the client pays, it’s built wrong in all the ways. Who’s excited about bespoke software? Software makers! Of course they're excited about building bespoke software — that's what they do. X is full of them. Your feed is full of people who love making software talking about making software. Of course they’re excited about the revolution. Echo, echo, echo... Most people don’t like computers. Nobody in tech wants to say that out loud. People tolerate computers. They use them because they have to. Given the choice, most would rather not think about them at all. So when someone suggests that AI means everyone will build their own custom tools, ask who "everyone" is. The three-person accounting firm drowning in client paperwork? They want the paperwork gone, not a new system to maintain. The regional logistics company with 40 trucks? They want the routes optimized, not Joe spouting off about this new system he’s been messing around with. The law firm billing 70-hour weeks? They want leverage on their time, not a software project to design. They don’t hate technology. But building and maintaining their own critical systems isn’t their wheelhouse, regardless of how much faster and easier it’s become. It's another job on top of the job. Will these people use AI? Absolutely, for all sorts of things. Will some outliers go deep and build real custom systems? Sure, but they're almost always people who already had some pull toward software. The curiosity was already there. They were dabblers before. Giving everyone access to software building tools doesn't mean everyone becomes a builder. A powerful excavator doesn't turn a homeowner into a contractor. Most people just want the hole dug by someone else. They don’t want the responsibility either.

Anyone can generate a logo, a landing page, a whole brand now. Almost no one can tell you which one is good. Taste is the whole job now.

It’s been a bit since i’ve shared an update about Mom’s cancer journey; I almost can’t believe that the last was on January 19th, when we had the first chemo infusion behind us. Fast forward a few emotionally heavy months, we’re 4 out of 6 infusion treatments done and we have arrived at the big surgery day. First thing Wednesday (May 1st) morning, my Mom will be having a full hysterectomy, omentectomy, and while her abdomen is open and accessible, a game-day decision on additional clean up of the cancer off of other organs or partial removal of them, depending on their involvement in the spread; also known as a “debulking” surgery. The procedure could be anywhere from 3 to 8 hours depending on what they discover. Recovery will likely start with a couple days in the hospital to monitor, and then several weeks of rest at home. So far so good. There are a bunch of ever-changing statistics that are scattered about the internet or more frequently-updated-and-accurate statistics from the care team that we’re working with, and up to this point she been on the good side of all of them. The chemo treatments have been (mostly) tolerable, but still cumulatively getting a bit more intense with each one, she’s handling medications well (while historically having difficulties with others), her CA-125 blood test for tumor markers are down to normal range, and the imaging that was done recently showed “significant improvement”. All good news. We’re confident that we’re in the right place at the right time with the right care team that is going to save her life. The day to day continues to carry a lot of overwhelming anxiety for all of us. As we were told on our first meeting about this HGSOC diagnosis, this is the next step in the journey to a cure. Appreciate ya’ll. Good vibes, good thoughts, prayers and peace all appreciated. 🙏🏻❤️
