Why become a (math) teacher? So that years later, you can receive a note such as this from a former student who is about to graduate college and continue her educational journey in medical school. It is a joy to see people around us flourish.

Ed Burger made failure 10% of the grade at Williams. To get an A, you had to fail.
He later ran my college. I failed Linear Algebra and retook it.
His fix for a stuck kid: name an answer you're sure is wrong. A wrong answer gives you something to fix. A blank page doesn't.
