CNBC just noted that half of Under Armour's profit is coming from tariff refunds, and that broadly the refunds are propping up corporate profits. Weird those refunds aren't going to consumers. Also weird prices aren't coming down. Almost as if tariffs don't drive inflation.

Sony is recouping the majority of the $508 million in US tariff refunds after import levies were ruled unlawful, per YF Roughly 70% of the funds were collected between April and June 2026 and directed into the PlayStation division, though Sony has no plans to reimburse consumers who paid the higher prices.

I get the idea that there might be some version of Yield Curve Control (YCC**) or other government intervention to hold down interest rates. But remember, what's freaking the market is inflation. If the Fed and/or Treasury does anything to suppress interest rates that is perceived as inflationary, such as expanding the balance sheet, not cutting interest rates when it is expected, shortening duration, or outright bond buying, which is perceived as stimulative. The market will take this as potentially creating more inflation, and the result will be even higher interest rates. What the market wants to bring yields down is a commitment to getting inflation under control. You want mortgage rates down; HIKE(!) the funds rate. -- ** A number of people are arguing for YCC. They should know it has a perfect track record... of never working! This is the ultimate definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
It’s all fun and games until mortgage rates start surging. They’re now approaching 7%. You see what’s happening with the US government stepping in to support the Japanese yen? The Treasury market is next. tavicosta.substack.com/p/the…

Arm CEO Rene Haas makes a great point in the AI data center debate. The same factions who railed against the gutting of the U.S. manufacturing base to China risk repeating that mistake if the AI factory ecosystem gets blocked domestically. Tae: AI is going to happen. Do we want the jobs and manufacturing ecosystem here in the U.S. or not? Or are we going to be dumb and defeat ourselves again? Welp.
Why are politicians so dumb?

They hate you for noticing the pattern. During the Summer of Floyd, a Black, drug-addled career criminal died while resisting police after committing a crime, and whole cities burned while we were lectured endlessly about “racism.” Now Henry Nowak, an 18-year-old White first-year student at the University of Southampton, is stabbed multiple times by Vickrum Digwa, a Sikh man carrying blades under Britain’s sacred multicultural laws. Henry was walking home after celebrating with his university soccer team. He was not some violent thug. He was sober enough to be under the legal driving limit, in good spirits, sending videos to his friends, and simply trying to get home. Digwa stabbed him in the chest and in the back of the legs as Henry tried to flee. Neighbors heard Henry crying that he had been stabbed and was dying. When police arrived, Digwa played the race card, called Henry a “drunken racist,” and the officers believed him. Henry told them he had been stabbed. One officer replied, “I don’t think you have, mate.” Then they handcuffed him anyway. He died after telling police he could not breathe. He bled out in the street while his killer stood there, shielded by the very system that should have saved him. The same political class that screamed for years over Floyd now falls silent. That silence tells you exactly whose lives matter to them, whose do not, and why they hate you for noticing.

New: The SPLC paid more than $1 million to a neo-Nazi gorup that it had declared effectively dead years earlier. At the same time, the neo-Nazi group was fighting in court for $160k it said was vital to its survival.

“The SPLC is manufacturing racism to justify its existence,” said Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche. “Using donor money to allegedly profit off Klansmen cannot go unchecked. This Department of Justice will hold the SPLC and every other fraudulent organization operating with the same deceptive playbook accountable. No entity is above the law.” 🔗: justice.gov/opa/pr/federal-g…

Hey @HomeDepot it took me longer to remove the labels then it did to hang the shelves, doubling the amount of time it took to get the job done. Also, are margins so thin you can't include drywall anchors? This isn't how I want to spend my Saturday. Please speak with suppliers.
