BREAKING: Israeli Forces and Settlers Retaliate Against Palestinian Activist Featured in BBC’s The Settlers
Prominent Palestinian human rights activist Issa Amro—recently featured in @louistheroux’s BBC documentary The Settlers—shares video of Israeli soldiers raiding his home in Hebron today in retaliation for his appearance in the film. After they left, settlers stormed the house, assaulted him and others, cut down trees, and stole tools and garbage containers.
Amro shares video of an exchange with an Israeli police officer later who threatened him with arrest if he filed a complaint.
Amro is the founder of Youth Against Settlements (YAS), a nonviolent group that documents Israeli abuses and organizes peaceful resistance in the occupied West Bank. He has long faced retaliation from both Israeli forces and the Palestinian Authority. In 2017, he was arrested by the PA for criticizing its leadership online. In 2023, Israeli forces expelled him from his home after he hosted a journalist and an Israeli activist.

This rhetoric is not warranted, helpful or acceptable. A senator needs to appeal to many, but he REALLY needs to reframing "Israel has a right to defend itself."
EVERYONE has a right to defend themselves, but what Israel has been doing for a year and a half is not defense.

Imagine being China and being confronted with morons of this magnitude at every turn.
Our lottery-esque system of wealth distribution elevates so many mediocre people to billionaire status who then speak with unearned confidence. We are such an embarrassment.
We built the global system of trade. It made these morons fantastically rich. And now they cry about it all day on this app.
The benefit of @realDonaldTrump’s approach is that we now understand who are our preferred trading partners, and who the problems are. China has shown themselves to be a bad actor.
Our counterparties also have a taste of what life is like if they don’t take down their trade barriers.
This is the perfect setup for trade negotiations over the next 90 days.
Advice for China:
Pick up the phone and call the President. He is a tough but fair negotiator. The longer China holds out and retaliates, the worse the outcome for China.
