We'll have full election results breakdown / reaction on next Live Free episode, but some quick thoughts...
1) The Sovereignty of God over all things is a deep comfort. As the old Christian saying goes, "I don't know what tomorrow holds, but I know Who holds tomorrow."
“For God is the King of all the earth; sing praises with a psalm! God reigns over the nations; God sits on his holy throne.” (Psalm 47)
2) It is sad and grievous. Romans 1 says God’s “passive wrath” is when he “gives them up” to their sin and evil desires – when He stops restraining a people from destroying themselves and lets them have the evil things they want.
The United States intentionally chose things like max-boosting infant murder up to the moment of birth, legislated sexual perversion that will wreak havoc on a rising generation, the expansion of Islamic influence on our nation, elected leaders openly hostile to Christianity, and in at least 2 cases (TX and Kansas) chose what the New Testamant would define as (and I do not say this lightly or flippantly) demonic, apostate false teachers to lead them.
This is an example of Romans 1 playing out before your eyes.
3) There is no political solution to a spiritual problem. Politics cannot fix what politics did not break, and Mankind was broken long before any political system.
The hope of the world has been and remains Jesus Christ, reformation and revival in our nation that has the ability to reach inside the chests of men and women and make them new men and women who want (and vote for) new things.
Christ is the only way out of the chaos.
4) Important lessons to be learned for conservatives. Wisdom would not be to blame *everything* on "dumb / evil voters."
Basic leadership: "Face the brutal facts (learn and adjust), maintain unwavering faith."
5) Sadness is ok, but despair is a sin. "Therefore, we DO NOT lose heart" (2 Cor 4:16).
Head up, chest out, knees down, glory up... do not grow weary in doing good, we build and fight (Nehemiah).
What are we going to do? Get up with joy in our eyes, love in our hearts, steel in our spines and keep assaulting heaven for an outpouring of God's Spirit, sharing Christ, planting churches, making disciples and deploying them in all areas of society in eager anticipation of the next Great Awakening in our land.
Tomb's still empty, y'all :)
6) We do what the people of God have always done in time of need: WE PRAY.
See you at Encounter tonight at all Lakepointe campuses at 7pm, doors open early for you to come and "pray for the prayer meeting."

Muslims have a plan to make America a Muslim nation.
Marxists have a plan to make America a Marxist nation.
Secular Progressives have a plan to make America a Secular Progressive nation.
… but Christians seem to always have a plan to keep Christianity from further influencing our nation by discipling people into either:
1) Political apathy (“God is sovereign, back off”, “we don’t get political, just do evangelism”)
2) Political ambiguity (“Jesus isn’t a Republican or Democrat, neither Right nor Left” = primary application of gospel to culture)
If continued, this will have very predictable (and disastrous) results in coming years, and a few conversations with pastors in deep blue cities / states trying to build churches, pastor people, and raise Christian families will help you realize it.

An estimated ~8M Christians just in Texas are projected not to vote during midterms.
That election will be decided by a projected ~300k votes.
Pastors, consider encouraging your people to vote real quick in announcements next couple weeks.
A) They want you to
B) They are the "salt of the earth", a preservative slowing societal decay.

Milton Friedman argued that the welfare system can strip people of independence and dignity by making them dependent on government decisions.
He warned that people may become afraid to take a job if losing it means risking the benefits they rely on.
His concern was that a system meant to provide temporary assistance could end up trapping people in a cycle of dependency instead of helping them regain independence.

PASTOR FRIENDS: Heads up, your people WANT YOU to remind them to vote.
Just in our state (Texas) an estimated ~8M Christians will forget to vote in midterms and it will be decided by a projected ~300k votes.
So, we built a website to help solve this problem. Anyone in any state can text the word "VOTE" to the phone number 20411 and they'll get...
1) A text reminder when midterm voting begins
2) A link to this site we built that can tell them WHERE to vote in their county and WHAT to bring in their state. Works in all 50 states.
Pastors, you can put something like I scripted in the next tweet (for our church) in your announcements for a couple weeks leading up to midterms and leverage the site we built.

A projected ~9M CHRISTIANS in Texas will forget to vote in the midterm elections. That election is projected to be decided by less than 300k votes.
If godly people will not engage in politics, godless people will (and are).
FAITH IN ACTION: Southern Baptist Convention president fires back at calls for pastors to stay out of politics, urging Christian leaders to 'step up' ahead of midterm elections.
Willy Rice argues that abortion, marriage, gender identity and immigration are deeply theological issues that demand a pastoral voice in the public square.
Rice says the political and theological left never withdrew from politics — and that their silence created a vacuum conservative Christians are now paying for.

Milton Friedman saw a fundamental problem with the U.S. public school system:xitter.cf/MiltonFriedmanW/status…
He argued that a lack of competition creates a monopoly, leading to high costs and poor incentives to improve.
His solution?
Give parents more choice and let schools compete for students.
“The way to improve that is to have competition.”

Watch the bait-and-switch:
A) When the Bible is used to advance a “conservative” cause, it’s “evil Christian Nationalism” (that he’s spent his entire campaign decrying) or it’s “forcing your religion on other people” and must be FORECEFULLY DENOUNCED.
But when the Bible is used to advance a progressive cause, aw shucks it’s just me being Christlike, “speaking truth to power”, and seeking “justice” or “compassion.”
His whole campaign is, ”Christian Nationalism for ME, but not for THEE” and hoping you won’t notice.
B) What progressives do is take the commands Jesus gave to INDIVIDUALS and apply them to the GOVERNMENT.
When Christians use words like “caring” or “generous” they mean caring for people and being generous with their own resources.
When progressives use the words “caring” and “generous”, they mean “vote for the government to forcibly take OTHER PEOPLE’S RESOURCES at gunpoint and redistribute it against their will.”
Of course, this *always* backfires because governments do not work like people and churches, so with governments you tends to get more of what you INCENTIVIZE and less of what you PENALIZE.
This is why cities and states that throw billions of $ at “solving homelessness” end up with MORE HOMELESSNESS, they do not “solve homelessness.”
This is a theology-nerd thing, but in general progressives want the government to do the roles of the church and individual (charity, compassion, care), and they want NOBODY to do the role of the State (administer justice and be a “terror to the wrongdoer”).
^^^this always results in societal chaos and darkness.
Further…
What Talarico (and other progressives) always do is selevtively edit Jesus, so that he becomes a mascot for their cause.
I can do a “when Jesus…” list too, but James won’t like mine…
- When Jesus defined marriage, he defined it as only between a man and a woman
- When Jesus talked about gender, he rooted it in biology, saying “he made them male and female”
- When Jesus talked about harming children (abortion), he said it would be better for you to have millstone tied around your neck and be cast into the ocean
- … that time when Jesus encouraged his followers to buy weapons for self-defense (Luke 22:36)
- Jesus’ family strictly obeyed the government’s border / migration / census laws.
- When Jesus talked about salvation, he said belief in him was the ONLY WAY
- When Jesus healed the sick, he didn’t need a deductible… there were no insurance companies in AD 30, and Jesus was using miraculous power, not paying doctors. This would be like an anti-vaxxer saying “JESUS WASNT VACCINATED!” as justification for their position)
- When Jesus fed the hungry, he FED THE HUNGRY. He did not vote for the government to forcibly take other people’s stuff at gunpoint and redistribute it against their will.
I could go on and on and on and on…
The point is, Jesus is a LORD of the universe, not a MASCOT for your cause.

For the public record when I say “get the hell out of the pulpit” here, I explain in podcast I mean that in the literal, Biblical sense of the term.
Lies from hell are in a pulpit when someone stands behind it and tells people she isn’t sure Jesus existed. That kind of hell needs to be out of a pulpit.

1) View Christianity as a bad thing
2) View America as The Bad Guys
Pastor friends, please stop morally equivocating the current parties. You are helping put both the enemies of our nation and open enemies of Christ in power.
