Police have rescued 65 Ethiopian nationals from a house in Mihang’o, Nairobi, where they were reportedly found in a weak and emaciated condition.
Three Kenyan nationals were arrested for questioning over suspected human trafficking.
The discovery was made early Tuesday, October 20, after a caretaker raised the alarm, prompting officers from Mihang’o Police Station to visit the premises. DCI officers later processed the scene, and the rescued individuals were taken to Kayole Police Station.
Detectives are now investigating how the group ended up in the house and whether a wider human smuggling network is involved. Police say Kenya is often used as a transit route by Ethiopian and Eritrean nationals travelling to South Africa and parts of the Middle East.
