This is Carmen Herrera, a renowned Cuban-American painter known for her minimalist works. She didn’t sell her first painting until the age of 89, and didn’t achieve international stardom until her mid-90s. If you think it’s already too late for your creative pursuits, keep on reading: - Julia Child Julia Child didn’t start cooking until her late 30s and published her first cookbook, "Mastering the Art of French Cooking," at the age of 49. She quickly became a beloved culinary icon, proving that it’s never too late to find yourself. - Stan Lee Stan Lee, the co-creator of iconic Marvel superheroes, didn’t achieve his major breakthrough until he was nearly 40. His creative contributions continued well into his later years, showing that creative success can come at any stage of life. - Alma Thomas Alma Thomas began her journey as a painter after retiring from a 38-year career as a school teacher. She was in her 70s when she began gaining recognition for her colorful abstract works. Thomas then became the first African American woman to have a solo exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. - Raymond Chandler Raymond Chandler started writing detective novels in his mid-40s after losing his job during the Great Depression. His creation, Philip Marlowe, became one of the most iconic characters of this genre. - Vera Wang Vera Wang entered the fashion industry at the age of 40 after a career as a figure skater. She became one of the most respected fashion designers, illustrating that a change in path later in life can lead to a long-lasting success. - Frank McCourt Frank McCourt published his first book, "Angela’s Ashes," at the age of 66. The memoir received the Pulitzer Prize and became an international bestseller, proving that it's never too late to share your story with the world. - Grandma Moses Anna Mary Robertson Moses, known as Grandma Moses, began painting in earnest at the age of 78. Her folk art gained national attention, and she became an iconic figure in American art. 🖼️: Carmen Herrera, Elle magazine

Missing & Murdered Indigenous People Awareness Month #mmip weredoingitallwrong.com/home…
Over 65,000 people identify as Indigenous in North Texas. Indigenous women are murdered at 10 times the national average, and the stories of the missing continue to be underreported and searches under-resourced. This #MMIP Awareness Month, it's time we end the silence.
