I have no words to describe it. @elonmusk is building the future and doing unbelievable things. How is it possible? Amazing! Really proud to be part of this future.
Bye-bye Firebase Test Lab. We will remember you.
But what about users of FTL? Official replacement is so expensive. That’s why, welcome to Marathon Cloud folks 😊
Definitely good news!

Hi X Android folks!
If you're on version 12.20+, you're now running the latest iteration of our new Android app. For context: for the last 8 months we were shipping two apps in a single binary, and that introduced some perf overhead. But shipping two apps in one was needed to make the switch to the new experience as smooth as possible for everyone.
With 12.20+ that overhead is gone. We ship a single app, built entirely on the new shiny kotlin + compose codebase.
This resulted in:
• 33% smaller app binary size
• 69% faster app startup
• Got rid of 3.15M lines of code from the OG app
What's next: we hear you on performance. It's our main focus right now - scroll smoothness, battery, networking and memory - and there's more coming.
Thanks for the patience and the feedback along the way - keep it coming!
We will miss you Mike!
It was wonderful to work with you. You are one of the best and strongest managers with whom I’ve worked or interacted. Pretty sure you’ve deserved good rest and relax! See you ❤️
After 13 years, this is my last week at X. So proud to be a part of the team that builds this incredible platform. X is the only place in the world that gives everyone a voice in the global town square.
Behind the app is an insanely talented team of engineers and staff who work 24/7 to make it better. I couldn’t be more grateful to have gotten to work so closely with them. Especially the last few years building under pressure most companies will never know. From stabilizing core systems to rebuilding DMs and live-streaming, every day I learned something new from brilliant people. Thank you to everyone who helped me out along the way.
💙🖤

That's true. Even with AI, native app development is still very hard and includes a lot of various things.
"This was a massive undertaking that took well over a year."
Native app development was hard, is hard, and will probably remain hard for complex apps, for good reason.
AI helps with a lot of stuff, but it won't magically solve hard engineering problems, exhibit #1
Finally, we released the new version!

Today we're announcing the completion of one of the largest engineering projects in the company's history:
We rebuilt the X Android app from scratch
It's faster, smoother and more reliable. But most of all: it will enable us to build new features at lightning speed.
Nice experience with emu!
For the past 10 days I've been dogfooding emu by building a native @jellyfin music client for android

We've open-sourced Grok Build and have reset usage limits for all users.
Open sourcing Grok Build allows anyone to support making a reliable and robust harness. Check out our code, including the Git repo for the Grok Build CLI.

Big media posting improvements coming to @X on Android 🚀
- media upload accelerated up to 2×
- fixed the most common crashes and failures when posting media — covering ~68% of known crashes and ~77% of known failures, including the top crash when attaching photos
- videos and GIFs that used to fail silently — HDR, unusual formats, tricky metadata, size mismatches — now post reliably
- much better background work

I'm dogfooding emu: building a native jellyfin client for music. One of the key features I need is android auto integration. After trying to figure out how to even do this locally, I understand why most apps don't have support for android auto. But now there's a better way
What's new in Spaces on @X Android 🎙️
• Hosts can now share posts into a live Space — they show up instantly for everyone in the room
• Emoji reactions & ✋ raise-hand are now live for everyone, with a fresh reaction picker
• See who's really in the room: verified badges on participants and accurate live listener counts
• Replaying recorded Spaces now works reliably, with proper playback controls
• Speakers can mute with one tap right from the mini player

It’s one year since I joined the @X team 🚀
I’m so happy to be making X better every day. Thank you, @elonmusk, for this great opportunity!
Folks, I’m always open to any kind of feedback and suggestions on how to make X better. My main focus right now is A/V Calls, Media and Spaces on Android.
