A very engaging panel at #EMW2024 on "Enhancing FSPs & MSMEs Resilience through Climate Strategies. This panel explores how financial service providers can empower MSMEs and entrepreneurs to build climate resilience. It highlights the importance of climate risk assessment for MFIs and examines the impact of climate change on both MFIs and their clients, emphasizing the need for MFIs to support their clients and build their resilience. Meriem Zine of Advans Tunisie shared some insights from their climate risk assessment study, through which they learnt what risks are more imminent and which are expected to increase. - Tunisia is heavily impacted by climate change - high temperatures, decreased water reserves, wildfires and flush floods, especially in the north. - 30% of their clients are highly vulnerable to water scarcity and floods and the number is expected to increase to 50% by 2030. - Pleasant surprise: their rural clients were well aware of the risks and had implemented innovative practices to combat them, like water saving techniques. "Improving the Economic Integration of Refugees: What Can We Learn for the Future?" - at #EMW2024 hearing from Erdal KOCOGLU, @FrankfurtSchool, Filippo Chiesa, @PerMicro_ & Ewa Bankowska, @MFC_Network.The discussion focuses on the results and key learnings gained from different experiences in providing financial and non-financial services to refugees, moderated by Nida Krasniqi, Council of Europe Development Bank As Ewa Bankowska shared, MFC partnered with local NGOs in Poland whose mandate was to provide daily support to Ukrainian refugees.
