On 15 September, we attended the ABS and DSI Gap Analysis Workshop at Ankara University’s DEHUKAM. Experts discussed Türkiye’s NBSAP update, the DSI lifecycle, data governance and traceability, capacity gaps, benefit-sharing and the Cali Fund. 🌿🧬

Coordinated by the ICPDR/IKSD (International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River), the Joint Danube Survey 5 (JDS5) is a comprehensive international monitoring programme investigating the ecological condition of the Danube and its major tributaries. @ICPDR_ORG
As part of JDS5, we are analysing Sterivex filters received by our laboratory from countries across the basin using eDNA metabarcoding and next-generation sequencing.

The 10kLepGenomes team in the Pirin Mountains!
The Working Group 2 Field Workshop of the 10kLepGenomes COST Action (CA23122), held in Vlahi, Bulgaria, from 15 to 19 June 2026, brought together Lepidoptera taxonomists, students, laboratory technicians and bioinformaticians.
The findings highlight the importance of a multilocus approach and regional reference databases for biodiversity research.
In this study, airborne environmental DNA (eDNAir) metabarcoding was used for the first time in Türkiye to investigate terrestrial plant biodiversity.
We are strengthening the research efforts in Türkiye within COST Action CA23122 – 10kLepGenomes through TR-LepGen: Genomic Characterization of Türkiye’s Lepidoptera Biodiversity, supported by the TÜBİTAK 2515 Programme. 🦋 #TRLepGen #10kLepGenomes #TÜBİTAK2515 #COSTAction
The project will contribute to resolving species boundaries, identifying genetically significant conservation units, and establishing a national data infrastructure aligned with FAIR principles.
