My @TorontoStar column: Critics said multiplexes were madness. It turns out they provide cheaper and larger places to live. (No major parking problems, either!) With the data they've got, council should have no doubt: sixplexes are the sensible move. thestar.com/opinion/contribu…

I met with a condo owner back in November The most recent comparable sales to her unit sold in the $950K range Last month, 2 similar units sold in the $850K range Same layouts in the same building A $100K drop in value in 7 months 😲

There's a record number of Toronto condominiums on the market right now, and nobody seems to want to buy them. @dzlo discusses what’s behind the recent sales slump. bit.ly/3RGXT51

Hey, thank you for getting to the Kremlin part in the story. Even just to confirm your suspicions. But I hope you kept going;)
Is it weird that when I read the originally unattributed Kremlin quote that I knew it was from Mike Colle immediately?

Oooooh, excellent questions! The overassessment we’re seeing in our Toronto database is tied to the most affordable end of the housing market, which tends to be … condos. Are we paying a higher $ amount but lower tax rate relative to our neighbours? Will get back to you on that.
Replying to @dzlo
The experts! Are properties in Toronto overvalued compared to our neighbours bc of the market here and thus do we pay higher dollar amount but lower percentage? And do condo owners pay more tax compared to freehold?

Thanks @alysanmati :) Wonder how many people will guess the correct number of houses it will take for the City of Toronto to make up the shortfall created by a Rosedale mansion that’s been undertaxed by 20 per cent because of its low assessment value … spoiler: it’s in the story
Do you miss all the yelling about property taxes during the election? Well this is the story for you from the @TorontoStar’s @KenyonWallace and @dzlo

Could not be prouder of my hometown girls hockey club that is making the game more accessible + equitable for athletes of all ages and abilities. This is a great feature by @CBCTheNational on a wonderful moment showcasing first-class sportsmanship. youtu.be/6kFbT2UgxoA

Here is national data. 2022 is the most deadly year of the pandemic.
Replying to @mustafahirji
This is shocking. I follow covid and would not have known our deaths are more this year than previous.

👋🏾 This week the Doug Ford gov't revealed planning legislation to build more homes that will force conservation authorities to give up conservation land AND their powers to review builds on wetlands, floodplains. @EmmaMci & I broke it all down thenarwhal.ca/ontario-conser… #onpoli

It's 7:57am. A parent and their sick child have been waiting in CHEO's ER since 4:16pm yesterday afternoon and have yet to be seen by an MD (actually likely since 2:30pm since time it takes to get triaged/registered not included)
