Live life joyfully. Appreciate the merit of past that brought us to where we are today. It won't steer us wrong. It’s our responsibility to that merit to build on it and create more merit for the future. - Dungse Jampal Norbu
To counteract the neurosis of our over-strengthened self-centered mind, we need a counteragent, which is training in altruism. Wherever warmth and love comes naturally in our lives, expand that further and further, make it more and more inclusive, create a bigger circle.
make that warmth and love as unconditional as possible. Spread it out—all the way. Exclude no one. Make prayers for all. That’s the counteragent of altruism according to the tradition of Nagarjuna. #bodhicitta #Compassion
There are no differences between ourselves and others, we are completely identical, in the wish to achieve happiness & be free from suffering. Deeply acknowledge that & make it your compass for how you relate to and treat others. #bodhichitta
“Although it is their sticks that hurt me,
I am angry at the ones who wield them, striking me.
But they in turn are driven by their hatred;
Therefore with their hatred I should take offence.” - Shantideva (@ShambhalaPubs translation)
In all of this there are two kinds of Dharma practice. On one hand there is the Dharma practice you’re familiar with in the books that you read and in what you hear from the teachers who explain the Dharma. But, as I said, that is just the beginning of Dharma practice.
To have a path is a lot better than not having a path. The challenge is there. The mind is there. The habits are there. But now we have the means to work with the mind, and to work with our strong habits. #buddhism
The dharma that is passed down to us, the wisdom of Buddha Shakyamuni— if were not examined by every teacher and meditator, it would not be passed down in the way it is. Self-reflection is what keeps it interactive, dynamic, alive. - Dungse Jampal Norbu, Mastery of Being program.
On bodhisattva path, there is joy in bearing the burden of the commitment to liberate all beings. - Elizabeth Mattis-Namgyal from Mastery of Being program.
Don’t lose compassion to cynicism.
Falling into cynicism or victim-mentality is very hard to crawl out of.
Not falling into cynicism, life becomes much more playful naturally.

Be Wise Selfish - His Holiness the Dalai Lama shares a simple but powerful idea: true self-interest lies in caring for others. Combining intelligence with warm-heartedness is what makes a human being — and ultimately the world — truly happy. A reminder that the path to a happier humanity runs through knowledge and education, one person at a time. Video originally recorded on August 18, 2020.
"We may be established practitioners. We may be comfortable with our practice and working with our minds; everything could be going smoothly. As my teacher Kyabje Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche used to say, 'Practice is easy when the sun is on your back and your belly is full.' But when
bubble to pop, for a dear one to die, or to find out we have a fatal disease. There is plenty of opportunity to practice nyensa chodpa (cutting through the haunted dominion of the mind) right here in our own minds.
