The most shocking thing about this whole ordeal was how the Brooklyn Nets approved Ben’s physical on the same day he severely reaggravated his back. Complete front office malpractice. They were that desperate to trade James Harden. So much so that they were willing to accept a player who needed back surgery in return. So foolish by Sean Marks
Ben Simmons on a back issue he had after being traded to the Nets:
"I remember running upstairs and my whole back just dropping out and I went up and was laying in my bed, but I couldn't move. And I was probably in the worst pain I had been in a long time. And I just couldn't believe it. You get traded and then you with Kev, Kai, those guys of a high caliber and then they're looking like shit we just made a trade. They're like, damn, what's wrong with him?"
Tragic. Just an unfortunate sad ending to a career that had so much potential
Ben Simmons often uses Doc Rivers throwing him under the bus as a "valid" excuse for him wanting out of Philly. But the reality was that nothing excused Ben's behavior. If Simmons had been the bigger man, showed up the following season and played well as a Sixer again, he would've earned 95% of goodwill back from Philly fans. Him sitting out only exasperated the issue times ten.
He quit on his teammates because his of his coach's words, after single-handedly losing them a playoff series as the #1 seed a few months prior. And that's what ultimately made him detested in Philly. Fans can eventually excuse bad play, but they can't ever excuse quitting. Ben Simmons quit. And to this day, he refuses to take accountability for any of his actions.
New video on Karl-Anthony Towns out now! Go watch! @KarlTowns
The 2018 Rockets will always be one of my favorite teams in NBA history. They were the greatest threat to the greatest team ever. Against the Warriors, they came within a hair of making history and changing the legacies of so many players forever. If the Rockets had won, all of the criticism directed at James Harden would've been erased permanently, and he'd be revered as one of the all time greats who made a title run the likes of Dirk in 2011. CP3 would've avoided retiring ringless and would have knocked off arguably the greatest PG ever in the playoffs. Mike D'Antoni would've won one, as would the polarizing basketball mind of Daryl Morey, who would have successfully completed his goal of defeating the Warriors, a goal that was "all he thought about". Kevin Durant would've been mercilessly mocked for the rest of time, at rates far worse than what we see today. Steph Curry would've had his 2nd major playoff disappointment in 3 years, with LeBron and now James Harden being seen as having his number. From July 2016 - Summer 2018, the basketball world trembled at the sight of the Warriors. They had an iron grip on the league the likes of which we hadn't seen from a team in decades. But the Rockets would've been seen as the fearless foe that stepped up and defeated this beast in an incredible fashion. If I was a Harden stan, I'd get sick thinking about it. No one playoff series outcome was more consequential to a players legacy than this one. Instead of a legacy marred by controversy and losing, Harden would've been untouchable.
Gonna miss Russ so much. In 2017, there was no one I rooted for harder. I’ll never forget how after KD ditched him for the Warriors, Westbrook didn’t run or request a trade or leave OKC. He would’ve been completely justified in doing so. They were clearly no longer a contender and the franchise had just been humiliated in nightmarish fashion. But he stayed. And played better than ever. He was a true leader for his team. He changed the way we look at the game with his triple doubles. He was a different type of point guard, he didn’t have the silkiest jumper or the flashiest playmaking. But he was a dawg. All heart. He was unapologetically himself. How he went out and won the MVP in 2017 despite all his franchise’s turmoil always inspired me. Enjoy retirement Russ.
New video analyzing LeBron’s “final decision” and why he joined the Philadelphia 76ers. Check it out!

Ben Simmons’ basketball mental collapse is discussed ad nauseam, but what’s little talked about is his physical decline that directly coincided with it. Right after being traded to Brooklyn, Ben tweaked his back. It got worse through subsequent surgeries to the point where it rendered him useless on the court. You can see it in these highlights. 2019 Ben would sprint down the floor on a fast break, while 2025 Clippers Ben trudged with zero springiness. But because of the poor timing of his back injury, fans chalked up him falling out of the league due to him being “mentally weak”. When in reality, Ben no longer being in the league is solely due to his back injuries.
Joel Embiid is gonna shock so many people next season. He said it in May and it’s still ringing true now: his knee is no longer an issue. In 2026, the only two major injuries that plagued him were his oblique strain and appendectomy. Two completely random injuries that aren’t correlated to his knees whatsoever. This summer is the first surgery-free one of his career. As seen in these pics, he’s working out with no knee brace, and looks in great shape. He averaged 29 points per game on 50/38 splits last season post December 13th. All signs point to a resurgence unlike any other next season, especially when he’ll be receiving passes from LeBron and playing with two other all stars in Maxey and Brown. Easiest prediction ever is that he’ll be an all star next season
KD implying all Klay did was “22ppg” like he wasn’t one of the most coveted non MVP players in the league in 2016 is crazy. Prime Klay Thompson was a star that every team in the league would kill for. He could lock up the opposing teams best player and go for 40 with 10 threes on any given night. Without Klay, there is no Warriors dynasty. Criminally underrated player

Mike Muscala hit a three pointer to win a meaningless Orlando bubble league game and now LeBron James is a Sixer. God is good.
What’s hilarious about the Sixers signing LeBron is that their arch rival THE BOSTON CELTICS directly assisted them in doing so.
LeBron would have NEVER signed with Philly if not for the Jaylen Brown trade. The Celtics foolish decision to move off of JB just handed their storied rival and the team they just blew a 3-1 lead to LeBron freakin James. Comedy
Philadelphia wasn’t seriously in the mix for LeBron James until the 76ers acquired Jaylen Brown, per @ShamsCharania
Surprised at how many people are saying “this is a weird choice” or “the fit is weird”.
Hello? Are we seeing the same other teams that were available for Bron to sign with?
You have a team with zero shooting in Miami, a geriatric 45 win team at best in Golden State, and a team with no legitimate shot to win it all even if they signed him in Cleveland.
Good for LeBron for rolling the dice and choosing the best option to win a championship instead of taking the “storybook” ending that would’ve resulted in a forgettable last two seasons with early playoff exits.
