for every service I use, I feel like I'm collecting referral codes. So yesterday I decided to do a little learning and see what it takes now to set up a simple static site. React, bootstrap, S3, CloudFront and NameCheap all used to create: referredbyafriend.co.uk/

Got to love a vaguely threatening email from a package hosting service I used 5 years ago and mostly forgot about. Seems they made a mistake back then and allowed free usage of a paid feature. Site also doesn't seem to have a "delete my entire account please" button.

Finally got around to uploading the shoe rack brackets I designed earlier this year. Our shoe pile is now organised and out of the way in an unused space under the stairs. space saving shoe rack by me! printables.com/model/528512-… (via @printablescom)

Clear answers reduce cognitive overhead and make it easier to act on data. Your stakeholders don't always need all the details or nuance, but if they're asking for data help, they *do* need someone to synthesize a bunch of confusing, possibly contradictory data points

Pretty certain no website's "for you" section is ever actually "for me"

We are looking for new colleagues to join our department (Computer Science @UoY_CS ) at the University of York, UK: jobs.york.ac.uk/vacancy/lect… York is a beautiful city with lots of things to do and see, ducks and geese, and of course people in the department and the uni are fab :)

Was remembering some foraging I learned as a kid. Nuts dropped from from "Shagbark" trees on the side of the road (aka hickory nuts) soaked in maple syrup from my cousin's trees next door. Sometimes we picked up "pig nuts" by mistake and they were so bitter.

Shagbarks and pignuts look like two different types of hickory trees. 6 year old me couldn't tell the difference though but my mother could
Finished extending my Ender 3. Old plate for scale. New print size is ~305x305x400
Erk, looks like my Nest Heat Link has upped and died. Had to go into the loft to shut down the central heating. 🤞The prof can get our heating back on Tuesday. @madebygoogle

The heating went on as well when it died, which is weird. Kept smelling "heat" smell in a meeting, and an hour later I find out my boiler's been going full blast 😬
I did a important thing today. I decided on my theme tune. youtu.be/qybUFnY7Y8w
Replying to @ATT
@ATT my mother is in an absolute panic because she's lost access to her email. Can't reset password, says not enough details are held. She tried calling but the agent wasn't helpful. so she called me in tears. How do we fix her account?
2
@ATTHelp my mother is being given an October 1st date for the temp password problem being solved. Is that right?
1
Good lord, it's gotten worse. Now she's been told it's her fault for not associating a phone number with the EMAIL account. She has one associated with her AT&T account, but that's somehow not the same account as the email and she should have known better. What nonsense.
Upgraded the motherboard and added auto-leveling on my Ender 3 Decided that I wanted to add a config option for Marlin. Went looking for how much pain compiling was going to cause. Saw there's a VSCode add-on and an up-to-date config file available.

config and compiling was actually just that easy. Universal bed leveling was a pain until I connected my laptop and was able to just send the gcode for setting the mesh directly.
