Absolute loser stuff from Villanova.
Game has gone so corporate and we’re contributing to it. At least we’ll be 5 spots higher in the NET!!!
We should be ashamed of ourselves
At the end of the day, Villanova never had the interests of the Big 5 in mind.
They demanded that a sixth team was added, so they could move away from the original round robin format, so they could jack up their NET ranking.
That didn’t make them happy, so now they just get to abandon ship.
Let me let you in on a little secret, Nova fans: playing Temple, La Salle, UPenn, and Saint Joe’s every year is not the reason they’ve only seen one tournament appearance since Jay Wright retired.
The uniformed hatred towards nova on my timeline is a he one positive of this announcement. Glad the rest of us Philly schools (and others groups) can unite on this!
Figures Nova ruins the big 5
News: Five institutions of the Philadelphia Big 5 - Drexel University, La Salle University, University of Pennsylvania, Saint Joseph's University, and Temple University - announce a round-robin scheduling format for men’s basketball beginning in 2027-28.
These institutions are united in their commitment to preserving the history and enhancing the future of the Philadelphia Big 5. The round-robin format represents a renewal of the competitive spirit that has defined the city’s college basketball landscape for more than 70 years, while also preserving the future of a partnership that is distinctively Philadelphia.

I watched this game in the oncology floor. My nurse came in to do vitals and asked why I was watching a replay of the game I had been watching earlier.
17 years ago today, the ESPN trio of @JayBilas, Bill Raftery & Sean McDonough called arguably the most memorable #ChampWeek game in history... Syracuse & UConn's legendary 6OT game in the @BIGEASTMBB Tournament.
