I don't think Conway or Reverse Conway is best. I start with the domain and the people whose problems we need to solve. Both the architecture of the software and of the organization emerge from the domain. Teams form themselves around domain problems. An architecture that makes it easy to solve those problems emerges from that. The answer to "which came first?" is "yes."

Then again you try to setup teams, right shape, right org structure to influence architecture. The other way around is and the pain there is why people advice doing a “Reverse Conway” or an I completely off and drank too much Teams Topologies kool-aid?

In the things-people-don't-think-about department: Microservice systems have large attack surfaces. A single microservice is a network service, like any other, and needs to be secured against intrusion, like any other. 1/2
One day late, thank you CarMax for amplifying #givingtuesday. I took the opportunity to donate to an organization dedicated to closing the gender gap in tech.

"When will it be done" is a question that you can answer only if you know what "it" is. If you learn as you work, and the things you learn change what "it" is, then that number is a moving target, impossible to predict with accuracy.

Outcomes over output.
It's not about velocity, at the expense of learning, reflecting, pivoting.
Building the wrong thing faster, makes you wronger.
Minimise time to learning. Sooner rather than Faster.
The most value, in the shortest time, with the least effort.

It’s come to my attention that many people think continuous delivery/deployment is about taking whatever crap you have in version control & shipping it into prod as fast as possible so you can test in prod
NO

Managment always seems to define progress as adding more code. Often, you can make the most progress by removing it.

I'm living in this space right now. I just keep deleting conditionals and turning off unused pages and no one even notices.
It feels unsafe and broken, but at least there is 'less' of it all every day until maybe we can understand it.

Lately I've been reflecting a lot about how the heroic nature of supply chain has helped us through this pandemic. The field has been robust, but the true superstars are all those who load, drive, and deliver packages all over. 📦 #thanksfordelivering
