This is a forecast product called Downdraft CAPE or "D-CAPE". It measures a storm's potential to produce damaging microburst winds. The benchmark for this possibility is 1000 jkg. You'll notice most areas around the Baltimore Metro are forecast above 1000 on Tuesday. 👇 Not only will the storms tomorrow be capable of damaging winds, but there is also a small chance for tornadoes. For sure? No, of course not. But stay weather aware tomorrow just in case.

When the American empire finally collapses, historians won’t be stunned by the greed of the elite; They’ll be stunned by the loyalty of the poor. The working class didn’t just vote against their own interests. They worshipped the billionaires robbing them. They slashed their own benefits, gutted their own healthcare, and cheered while the rich wrote off private jets as tax deductions. Not because it helped them. But because they were told it would hurt someone else. And that, right there, is how you rig a democracy without ever breaking a single law.

This denial of our history is yet another effort to prevent our full participation in that democracy. We must use this federal holiday to dedicate ourselves to achieving true multiracial democracy in the United States.

Calling the Black mayor OF BALTIMORE the "DEI Mayor" is actually a useful illustration of what they actually mean by the term.
This is Baltimore’s DEI mayor commenting on the collapsed Francis Scott Key Bridge. It’s going to get so, so much worse. Prepare accordingly.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Brandon Scott was elected as Mayor of Baltimore in 2020 with > 70% of the vote. He did not come in to office through any DEI practices, appointments, etc. ballotpedia.org/Mayoral_electi…

But the bosses also said this: We can have a diverse and multi-colored newsroom, and maintain the view from nowhere. See the contradiction? Under-represented journalists are to simultaneously supply a missing perspective and suppress it— in order to prove their objectivity. 12/

The "pendulum swinging" concept is wild to think about in a larger reflection of this year. 2020 was the year of "racial reckoning" and "social justice" and just 3 years later, all of that is undone with anti-CRT and -DEI legislation. Only 3 years.

Congress just passed an $886 BILLION defense bill. No healthcare for all. No college for all. No childcare for all. No reparations. But war? Oh baby, they got money for that!

Having lived near Milwaukee, and then in Syracuse, it's hard to miss the ways highways serve as physical barriers to uphold segregation. A great read on how Syracuse is trying to move forward in a just way

Money that could go towards more benefits with adequate compensation to teaching and research assistants that facing hyper exploitation. But SFU loves giving money to third party contractors even while external reviews of their graduate programs say students are starving.
SFU has hired Lions Gate Risk Management—the same corporate security firm that spied on and infiltrated Fairy Creek land defenders—to surveil @tssu picket lines. Unvelievable. #cdpoli #bcpoli pressprogress.ca/simon-frase…

(1/6) Respiratory viruses are much more likely to spread indoors than outdoors, but outdoor super-spreading events can still occur if the conditions are right. A new study describes a SARS-CoV-2 outbreak affecting 131 people at a night market. 🧵
