Hispanic Heritage Month may be coming to an end, but our community will always be loud, proud, and look out for each other.
Paid sick leave, health insurance, and respect isn’t asking for a lot. It’s what the service workers of Kansas City are owed, and they have earned every bit of it. @moworkerscenter
Hmmm.
Crown Center is a "detriment to public health, safety and welfare," and Hallmark buildings are a "menace to public health, safety and welfare," a new study says. fox4kc.com/news/crown-center…

Soakie’s was Kansas City’s Black gay bar and safe home for many for over a decade and then it was gone. Nasir Montalvo archived it, exhibited it, advocated for it, and Saturday we dedicated a permanent marker on the corner where it stood. Years of work and every flower earned.
It was a gorgeous morning at Rosehill Winery in Martin City for our 6th District meet-up with Councilman McManus! A huge thank you to City Staff from Public Works, Housing, and KCPD for the great information and making this morning a success.
On Sunday, I had the privilege to recognize a story teller, a leader, and a champion for La cultura for over 30 years in Joe Arce most notably known as the publisher of Hispanic News. Joe wanted to be recognized at Fiesta Hispana because “it felt like home.” /1
The Northern improvements to the Brookside Trolley Trail are nearly complete and the trail is open! Crews are still working on street improvements which should be done soon. Be on the lookout for phase two improvements to the Southern portion of the trail.
Today we celebrate the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month by raising the Hispanic Heritage flag atop of City Hall. This month celebrates the pride, beauty, and triumph of our culture and our people through great adversity. ¡Viva la cultura!
Last week I joined Rep. Cleaver, colleagues, the Parks Board, & community leaders to celebrate the ground breaking of the MLK Park pedestrian bridge.
While so many around us are focused on building walls that divide us, I was happy to see us move forward that will connect us./1
You heard the man!
HELL HAS A BORDER, AND TONIGHT IT RUNS THROUGH LAWRENCE.
The oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi is back- KU vs. Mizzou. Generations of bad blood. Two states. Two fan bases that can’t stand each other. And absolutely ZERO love lost.
Tonight, Mizzou walks into Lawrence.
Let’s make damn sure they regret it.
ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK. 🔴🔵🌾
BEAT MIZZOU. LFG!!!
It was a great morning for a walk around the West Plaza neighborhood! We walked alongside neighborhood leaders as we look to address issues with traffic calming, short term rentals, and public safety. A big thank you to City Staff for joining us today.

BREAKING: The U.S. Supreme Court blocks a federal judge's ruling in favor of Missouri's Trump-backed map.
The decision allows the state to use the '22 map as the case plays out. As of now, a MO Supreme Court ruling blocking the gerrymandered map stands. #moleg
Last week the Council said goodbye to one of our most esteemed colleagues in Councilwoman Andrea Bough and I wished my friend good luck in her new role. Before we were colleagues, I knew Andrea as a friend to poor and working class tenants. /1
As my colleague, she helped me secure funding for a future center to deflect sick people from jail and coached me to ensure the ban of source of income discrimination passed. /3
